2012 - The debate!
Certain people think it will happen, certain people don't. I believe it won't happen this year but it will happen sometime in the near future. There are lots of things going on lately such as floods, earthquakes etc. The world will soon not be able to manage it all and just collapse.
Re: 2012 - The debate!
I never really liked how everyone plays it out to be some form of religious thing. I personally am not very religious, in fact I am a Pastafarian just to not be considered Christian, and I really thing it's just making everyone all hyped up and freaked out.

I don't believe the end of the world will be from any natural causes. Sure, we may just over pollute and kill ourselves via breathing problems, but all the natural disasters are just natural disasters. There are more people out there who haven't been affected than those who have. Japan is just one country, the USA's East coast is just the East coast...any major damaged that affects the majority is caused by man, like war.

That earthquake on the East Coast REALLY scared everyone. No one saw it coming, and it was here in VIRGINIA. So that day, I googled fault lines near Virginia, and I did find one, but still, it was weird. I don't think it's a sign of the end of the world.

I actually find it interesting that you'd bring this up for debate considering it's mostly focused around theology instead of factual data.
However, I've been infatuated with the apparent 'Apocalypse' theories since grammar school. The Mayan calender, just like ours, never truly ends and only resets.
So that's one theory out.
Christianity also brings for no ending until 1000 years after judgment day. Which means, the Apocalypse for Christianity and its branches only harks a new beginning. This, in turn, comes to the point that there will be 1000 years of utopia until Lucifer frees himself once more.
Nostradamus has also been proven fraud in terms of works that many claim to be his, that have also been proven not. Also, due to his affiliation with the God of Abraham in both Judaism and Christianity, he floats the same boat as the prior theory.
I could go on, but all in all if anything does happen it'll be unnoticeable to humanity. With that also being said, no nothing will occur in terms of mass extinction of the human race but things are bound to occur as well perhaps after the fact or even before it do to the rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran.

There's a reason the Mayan calendar ends:
The Conquistadors killed them before they could finish!

Not the Puerto Ricans, the Conquistadors. That's a joke between some of the debate kids at school and the debate coach.

I thought you got all mad or something because you're Puerto Rican and I missed the chapter in the history textbook where the Conquistadors settled Puerto Rico!

It's funny because most people in Central and South America think they are all individual races, but in reality they are just mulattoes until proven otherwise. x)Rose Swan wrote:I thought you got all mad or something because you're Puerto Rican and I missed the chapter in the history textbook where the Conquistadors settled Puerto Rico!

I have yet to see a valid reason as to why the world will end. I believe it will happen when it does, no need to attempt to predict it.
