So, have your thoughts been going nonstop about what's going to happen? Oh my, out to destroy the universes, are we?

~ Thought Dispersion ~

Amber City, an unnamed world...

For nearing midnight, the bar in Amber City was oddly empty. Usually filled with the obnoxious ruckus of drunkards, the sounds of fighting, and a mass of slurred words and curses, tonight, a stifling silence befell the establishment. A few night owls had sat themselves down at the wooden tables scattered about the place, slowly sipping out of their large glass mugs. There was occasional chatter between two drinking buddies, but even that wasn't enough to permeate the air of tension enveloping the place. It wasn't even just the bar, either. Outside in the streets, hardly a soul could be found. A displaced calm had settled over Amber City despite the threat of the sorcerer looming over them. Could be called a calm? Perhaps more of a mourning. The day before this unsettled night, treason was committed against the sorcerer from within his own castle by an assassin named Kazu Gneiss. Apparently fed up with watching the world die, he fled the castle only to have his one true love, Erimonia, executed. It was easy, for she too was an assassin working for the sorcerer. Kazu defected and it cost him the only person he would ever love. This story had been quick to reach the surrounding areas of the castle including Amber City. The people were completely against the sorcerer that ruled over the world, but they tended to keep their distaste on the less flagrant side. However, upon hearing this story, their hearts were torn to shreds. Even the sorcerer's own people were beginning to see what a horrible thing he had done to the world by chaining it to the sky. It was because of all of this that things were so sober in what was supposed to be a drunken paradise.

Sitting on a tall wooden stool at the bar itself sat a man. His body was covered in a tattered cloak, black in hue. His head was bowed over the bar as he awaited a drink from the barkeeper. The tangled brown hair covering his head was all hanging down, some of the longest strands touching the bar. Something jolted him from his stupor. It was the sound of the barkeeper slamming a large glass mug full of strong ale down next to him. "You know, I have to keep this thing clean, so keep your filthy hair off it," the barkeeper scolded him lightly, but as the man looked him right in the eye, his heart melted. "You can't keep running forever."

The man readjusted his hair with his hands which was rather hard to do with his clawed gauntlets. Eventually, he got it the way he wanted before letting out a sigh and gripping the handle of the cold mug. "I know I can't keep running, but what else am I supposed to do? Join the resistance forces? They're not doing such a hot job right now." With that said, he raised the mug to his lips and let the liquid flow into his mouth, slowly letting it slip down his throat. He unleashed another sigh, this time one of content. The solitary crimson eye that was visible stared right into the barkeeper's own. He thought of all the times he hadn't relented in doing the same thing to the people he was ordered to kill. He didn't have a right to look away from them; he forced himself to look at what he had done, for he was an assassin, though not by choice. It was the only thing he had ever been good at, and when the sorcerer offered him a job, well...

"So what, Kazu? You're going to sneak into the castle and assassinate the sorcerer yourself?!" the barkeeper retorted hysterically, though in as hushed a voice as possible. He couldn't let anyone hear him say such preposterous things, even when he knew the barflies weren't gossipers or snitches. Anyone could be bought for some gold, however, so he couldn't let dire secrets fall into their hands. "Listen, if anything, that bastard's probably expecting you, so good luck accomplishing that little vengeance mission on your own. I'm tellin' you that it'd be best if you had at least a little support. Maybe some sort of distraction or something." The barkeep turned around and picked up an empty mug, wiping it with a rag that he produced from his apron pocket. He was a balding fellow, and when it got hot, he liked to keep a rag on him to wipe the sweat from his shiny noggin. It was at times like those that he had to be careful with which rag he used to wipe the glasses, not that the customers would ever notice in their drunken stupors.

Kazu became distant. He didn't want to be lectured at by this guy he hardly even knew, yet trusted with all his life. This barkeeper knew who he was and yet still couldn't be bought out. He was a man who was satisfied with what he had. The sorcerer would never sway him. "I guess you're right...," Kazu finally muttered after a while of drinking and watching the barkeeper wipe down more glasses. "They'd probably be glad to have me with my knowledge of the castle and the sorcerer's schedule and such." He waved his free hand nonchalantly before polishing off the rest of his ale, stifling a loud burp that would have drawn everyone's attention. Turning the embarrassing moment into nothing but a coughing fit, he tapped the mug in gesture for a refill. He watched as the barkeeper rolled his eyes and went to fill it up. So many thoughts passed through his mind. So, was he really going to join the resistance? He was confident in his abilities, but definitely realized that the sorcerer knew everything about him. There was no way he'd be able to stop the powerful sorcerer on his own.

"Guess it's decided then," Kazu said to himself gently, taking some money out of his pants pocket as he stood up and placing it on the counter. Without a sound, he walked to the door of the tavern and walked right out. The night air was rather cool and crisp--a true refreshment. Just a few days before, he was sitting atop the castle turrets with Erimonia, talking to each other about their troubles and the future, enjoying the night together. Something was wrong, though. Kazu's form began to waver, flickering and becoming transparent. His hands reached for his head and clutched as he soon found himself on his knees. So much pain was coursing through his body that he wished he could just pass out. What on earth was going on?! He let out a single scream as his body disappeared right off the face of the planet, and his mind succumbed to unconsciousness.

Altinor, Continent of Elendia, Alidaire...

The room was lit by naught but candles. It was rather warm inside, yet a young woman with lustrous blonde hair sitting at an ornate desk constructed with a most beautiful wood still found herself shivering beneath a blanket. There was something off about the night that she didn't quite like. In her hand rested a quill that she lightly tapped against the surface of the desk. The paper in front of her was completely blank, the bottle of black ink untouched. Only on this night would the woman, one Rien Saffir, feel so out of place in her bedroom in the Floran Castle. Her sister, Rayne, was captain of the Royal Knights, and as such, her family was allowed to take residence in the castle which was known to many as an immense honor. Rien herself was pleased at the migration from her townhouse to the beautiful castle. It had a magnificent garden that she loved to stroll through. Sometimes she would sit beneath a shade tree and draw the wondrous flowers, taking in their pungent aromas. It was as if she were in a paradise. Those thoughts transmogrified into something she had rather have kept her mind off of, but now her quill point was covered in ink and she found herself scratching away at the paper like crazy.

"...and they say that she has an evil plot up her sleeve--that the renegade knight, Chance Crawford, is actually telling the truth," she read aloud to herself as she began to draw, her navy blue eyes never leaving the page. "But they couldn't possibly be right. The brave and noble Captain Rayne Saffir is nothing short of an inspiration in the eyes of those who serve under her, and the very few above her count themselves lucky to have them on their side. All trust her...so how...how could this be...?" Rien set her quill down and wiped her eyes. She hadn't noticed that tears were starting to form, the saltiness of which began to sting her eyes. "Ugh, if she caught me crying like this..." She didn't finish her statement. Her mind was already being plummeted with the possible reprimands she'd receive from her sister. She would say that she had to be strong through any tough times that presented themselves and drowning oneself in tears never did anyone any good.

Rien stood up from her chair, leaving the page behind along with the blanket that had been draped around her shoulders. She had neglected to change into pajamas, still donning her dark navy blue dress. Regardless, she flopped down into her large bed, cuddling against the soft bedspread and closing her eyes. Some people had been saying that her sister was actually scheming something and planning to go against the Floran Dynasty. Where did they get their basis for such accusations, however? The lies being spouted from the mouth of Chance Crawford? He was the one who abandoned the queen and the entire kingdom. He was nothing more than a fugitive now. As Rien rested on her bed, Rayne was out hunting down Chance Crawford in an attempt to bring him to justice. It would serve him right. Still, Rayne's demeanor had seemed so strange earlier on. The woman wondered if questioning her sister would be acceptable at this point in time. Rayne already had so many burdens resting upon her sturdy shoulders, but how would she deal with her own sister's distrust, even if it were naught but a want for affirmation from Rayne herself?

"It would probably break her heart," Rien whimpered to herself as she rolled over onto her back and stared up at the elegant ceiling with patterns carved into the stone. "I think I'll just be my own happy self around her. I know she's always happy when she sees me smile," she continued to speak aloud, letting that very smile creep upon her face. "Looks like I'll have a talk with her when she comes back. A nice one. If the topic about the betrayal pops up, then it pops up. Those people are just fools for believe the words of a criminal over those of my--" Her little spiel was cut off suddenly as she felt a writhing pain take hold of her, most of which was focused in her head which she instantly clutched as if somehow it would get rid of the pain. "AAAAAHHHH!!!" she screamed as her body began to waver. Not a thought more could pass through her mind, for it was completely dominated by the immense agony. Her last feeling was a feeling of happiness as her being gave way to unconsciousness such that she wouldn't have to suffer any longer.

Capitol City, Baiyu, an unnamed world...

The sun set over the filthy city as Quin Phoenix hurried home. The stench of sewage and rotting animals (human or otherwise) wafted between the tall skyscrapers, worsened by the heat, though no one but her seemed to mind it. The walls of every building she passed were plastered with posters with slogans such as “Have you done your duty to Baiyu today?” and “Beware of the Bing monster! Set aside credits for war bonds.” As she continued, the sidewalk seemed to become more crowded, and the tiny girl struggled to push through the crowd without drawing too much attention to herself. That was rather difficult to do, even without being a street menace, due to her “devil eyes” and oddly muscled form.

After what seemed like far too long among the stench, rubble, and proletarians, she finally reached the building she was looking for. The skyscraper, while large, was nothing special compared to the other shiny and sparkling buildings around it. That was the idea, though, she supposed, but Quin had always been a bit disappointed that her home was not quite as glamorous as those of her classmates.

She pushed through the sea of people and through the glass doors, passing the familiar logo of Phoenix Industries. As she entered, a wave of relief washed over her, though her face remained blank as it usually was. The building had the familiar smell of antiseptic and had air conditioning. The smooth clean tile floor and white walls were a welcome break from the outdoors.

As she walked towards the metal elevator doors, a secretary sitting at wooden desk, along with a neat stack of papers, smiled at her with her tiny, straight, white teeth. Quin found her a bit eery because of how neat, perfect, and doll-like she was. “Hello,” the woman stated in greeting, her glassy green eyes giving off a blank appearance.

Quin avoided her gaze, thankful that with her bangs covering her eyes, the woman wouldn’t be able to see her. Instead, she focused her gaze on a fake potted plant and returned the greeting, “Hi.” With that over with, she swiftly jabbed at the elevator button, hoping that the secretary wouldn’t try to initiate a conversation before the elevator could arrive.

Her prayers were answered, and the elevator arrived with a ding. As she stepped in, the secretary spoke again, giving Quin quite the start. “Hello,” she had said again, and Quin sighed in relief as she realized the woman was just talking to another customer rather than her. She pressed the button for the 94th floor, remaining stationary in the corner of the elevator as the doors closed and the tiny box started moving upwards.

As she waited to reach her floor, toning out the drone of the elevator woman spouting government propaganda over the PA system, she absentmindedly tapped the rock in the pocket of her simple beige dress. The instant she did so, she found herself covered by an excruciating pain, sinking to the ground and curling up in the corner of the elevator, praying for it to pass. Sweat poured off her body, and she shuddered as she gave into the pain, finally screaming and hoping someone would come save her, despite the fact that she was alone in the elevator. The pain started to fade along with her vision as she struggled not to give in and follow her training. However, by time the elevator chimed, letting her know she had reached her destination, she had already slipped into the darkness and was gone.

Somewhere in the western United States, Earth, 2123

Jun sighed, his tanned ears searching for some other sound besides his occasional clicks. Nothing. Nothing at all. He wasn’t quite sure where he was anymore, but it certainly wasn’t near any food or water. That wasn’t good.

He continued walking forward, the dry dirt cracked beneath his feet. Was he going to die out here? It had been five days since he’d found water, and his supply was almost out. The kid he had run into at the water hole had said there was water two days in this direction, and there was also a trading post around. How could he have been so stupid? The kid was probably just trying to get people to leave his water alone and keep it all too himself.

Sweat dripped off his nose, and with the sun beating down on top of him, he figured it was about noon. “Good job, Jun, you picked the hottest part of the day to get lost,” he muttered to himself. Maybe the kid had super speed or something. He wouldn’t have just tricked him like that.

A few more hours of walking through the wasteland ensued until Jun could faintly hear the sound of trickling water. He briefly wondered if it was a hallucination, but sped up nonetheless, continuing onwards over the broken ground. As he hobbled along, the sound of water got louder, and he could hear the aimless chatter of people. Yes, civilization! He wasn’t dead yet! He emitted a few more clicks, listening carefully as an image of people and buildings formed in his mind. He was half tempted to take off the cloth covering his third eye, but he didn’t want to scare off the other people.

Jun gulped down the remainder of his water, open his parched lips to call out to the other people, before a horrible pain overtook him, sending him to the ground to writhe around a bit. He gasped for air, choking out a scream, before disappearing, leaving the tiny settlement to wonder how any animal could scream that loud.

Tranquil Grove, Sanctuary...

The warm sun cast its rays indiscriminately down upon the clearing. Soft grass with a sweet scent like candy made a perfect bed for the three beings who were lying upon it: two young women and one young man. The breeze that wafted through the area made the wildflowers dance, spreading their own gentle aromas through the air. Rustling could be heard coming from the nearby trees, music to accompany the performance of the wildflowers. The grove covered quite a bit of space, but there came a drop point out to the west where all that could be seen was an expanse of fluffy white clouds. Taking a step into it...well, there was no telling what would happen. Off towards the northeast was a large mountain range, and if one scrutinized the peaks enough, one would be able to see the very tops of tall buildings, gleaming in the sunlight. There seemed to be two long cables stretching from a nearby place at the grove's level up to the mountainside, no doubt some sort of transportation to whatever rested beyond the mountains. In the other directions, the trees grew more thick into what would form a vibrant forest, and beyond that, more seas of clouds could be seen. It seemed the entire space was isolated like an island in the middle of a cumulus ocean.

With his back against a nearby tree while sitting upon the soft ground, Kazu gazed intently on the three sleeping on the grass. Not too long ago, he had found himself lying right there just like they were. His head had been pounding with a dull ache like a hangover, but he knew that had nothing to do with his drinking the night before. All the questions that had surged through his mind upon awakening certainly hadn't helped things out at all, especially since there was no way to find any answers. Who were the people? Where was he now? What happened the night before? What was with that excruciating pain? What would he do next? The last question he had already answered. If what happened to him was any indication of what happened to the others, then they would be in similar boats as him. Confused. Bewildered. Panicked, possibly. The assassin knew one thing for sure, and that was that he was no longer in Amber City, or even anywhere on his own world.

"Thinking such things...makes me feel like a crazy person. Maybe I'm dreaming...," Kazu uttered to himself, slightly bemused as he carefully cut his right arm with one of the blades protruding from his left gauntlet. The wound seared with pain instantly, though it wasn't a deep cut. He reached into his pocket and placed some raw herbs on it before tying a bandage around it to bind it. "Huh, I should have tested to see if my magic still worked." Because of the sorcerer's action of draining the energy of the cosmos into the planet, the denizens were gifted with strange powers involving the astral entities. Kazu extended a hand and focused, watching with a dull expression as a sphere of light formed in his palm, floating just a few centimeters above it. His fingers closed around it suddenly and it was crushed into nonexistence. "Well, at least I still have that." Picking a blade of grass, Kazu placed it at his lips just right and started to blow slightly. A sharp, yet docile tune began to fill the air as he tried his best to keep the melody going. It went strong for a few seconds before petering out into silence. He tossed the blade of grass but savored the sweet flavor it had left upon his lips.

Kazu let out a sigh and continued to watch the others, seeing if they would stir or not. Maybe they were even dead. He had failed to check their vitals, but they looked like they were still breathing, so that was good enough. "Not a good time to be so flippant, but someone's gotta make sure they have a cool head around here," he whispered to himself. "Don't know how the others are going to react."

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:08 pm

Quin lay awake, having quickly noticed by the tickle of grass and the smell of wildflowers that she was in an unfamiliar place. This was not her home, far from it. Perhaps she’d been kidnapped by the Bings? No, impossible, she’d been inside one of the most secure buildings in Capitol city. There was no way a Bing could have gotten in there.

The black haired girl continued to breath softly, despite her heart pounding in her chest. Was this fear? She didn’t like it at all. Perhaps it would be better to just sit up? No, there were multiple sets of breathing, she wasn’t alone. Judging from the whistled melody that had eerily wafted through the air earlier, at least one of them was awake, if not all. As she started forming battle plans, her hand tightening around her rock, she was startled by the sound of speaking.

Pretty music,” Jun had commented as he sat up, clicking a few times to get his bearings, though the dull headache made it rather hard. He thought about revealing his third eye again, his hand reaching up to grab at the dirty cloth that covered his eyes, before he shook his head as if to remind himself, bringing his hand back down to his side. “Nice sound to wake up to. You know where we are? ‘Cuz this certainly is not the wasteland.

No, this certainly was not the wasteland. There were flowers, and grasses, and they all were seeming pretty good to eat right now. Jun’s stomach growled loudly, and he patted it as if to quiet a beast. “Bit hungry. Thirsty, too, if you got something to drink. Y’think these flowers are safe to eat?

The corners of Quin’s mouth twitched into a rather unnoticeable frown. It seemed like he was just as lost as she was. She’d wait a bit longer, and see how the whistler reacted. Perhaps he knew something that she and the hungry man didn’t.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by Masquerade Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:48 pm

Kazu blinked his crimson eyes as he noticed that a couple of the other people had awoken. The only one who hadn't was a blonde woman in a dark navy blue dress. She seemed to be sleeping peacefully enough. He wondered how long that peace would last once she realized that she wasn't where she used to be. The other two seemed to handle it well. "I would have kept the tune going, but I'm out of practice. As for the flowers, I'd say knock yourself out. The grass is sweet like candy. Never encountered something like it before," he explained to the blindfolded young man. Getting a better look at him now, he seemed to be in bad shape. Where in the world did he come from? He needed a trim and a shower, though that probably didn't compare for his need of food and water. "I wish I could give you a better answer, but I'm just like you guys." The assassin stood up, stretching his arms out. He felt so stiff for whatever reason. "I'm going to go and try to find some water. I would have done it earlier but I didn't want to leave you guys unattended." Kazu turned his back and prepared to travel out to see what he could find. The other young man definitely needed it. "Keep an eye on blondie for me?" With that, he was gone, his feet making no sound as he made his way through the grass and away from the clearing.

Instead of heading out towards the sea of clouds that was rather visible from the clearing, Kazu navigated himself through the trees in the opposite direction seeing as how they grew more dense to form a forest. The plant life had to have a water source somewhere. His keen eye searched carefully through the brush and past the trees for anything, even just a small creek. Pushing himself onwards, he realized that the water must be playing hard to get with him. Growling slightly in frustration, he crouched down and listened intently for any signs of a trickle. Closing his eyes and ignoring the dull ache that was starting to fade away now, he was rewarded with the sound of running water. Standing up and dashing off in a skewed direction different from the one he was originally headed in, Kazu skillfully hopped over bushes and shrubbery while dodging around the sturdy trees until he reached a small creek where a few other woodland animals were drinking. It was amazing how clear and clean the water was; he had never seen anything like it in his life. Cupping his hands, he scooped some up and sipped from what he had collected.

"Ah!" Kazu exclaimed, falling backwards, surprised to see that the rabbits and squirrels didn't run, but merely tilted their heads in curiosity at him. The water had been so astonishingly crisp and delicious that it scattered the assassin's thoughts for a few moments. Completely devoid of any taint, it had to be some of the cleanest water in existence which gave him one less thing to worry about. He didn't want to give that young man water that could potentially kill him. But this...this source was incredible, something beyond his wildest dreams. "It'll definitely do that guy some good," he said to himself as he retrieved an empty flask that was clipped onto his belt and held it in the water while it filled. Satisfied with his little mission, Kazu capped the thing and prepared to head back.

Meanwhile, back at the clearing, Rien groaned in discomfort. Even though whatever she was lying upon was so soft, her headache was tremendous. She wished it would go away. Drearily opening her eyes, she had to shield them with one hand; she wasn't expecting direct sunlight at all. "Did I...did I fall asleep in the garden again?" she wondered aloud before realizing she wasn't alone and shrieked slightly. A rather tense girl and some blindfolded gentleman were near her...and she had no idea how they got there. She scooted away from them on her bottom, trying to get distance. Her eyes frantically looked around. The trees. The grass. The flowers. Where was she? It definitely wasn't the castle garden. Or any garden in Altinor for that matter. Was she even still in Elendia? The place looked like some of the groves that could be found on the Dragonscar Plains outside of Altinor, but...there was something so pristine about this place that the Dragonscar Plains lacked. So she wasn't in her bedroom at the castle anymore. With that fact noted, she tried to calm her breathing. She had reacted rather rudely to the others, especially since they were the only ones around that could possibly answer her questions.

"M-my apologies for my sudden start, but do you...know where I am right now? I mean, who are you? How did I get here?" Rien spoke up to the others as politely as she could, trying to abstain from sounding too afraid, but that plan was a failure. In truth, she was scared. Instances like these weren't so uncommon in Alidaire, but never had she thought that she would get whisked away to some foreign place for whatever reason that was unknown to her. The fact that she was alone also worried her. She couldn't rely on her sister, or the High Scholar, Scarlet Auburne. Or even Johnathan, the queen's confidante, for that matter. This was a matter she would have to handle herself, and for now, she would see what the others had to say for themselves.

Rien awoke to the sight of Jun hungrily stuffing his face with every plant his rather large hands could grab. The more he ate, the more his stomach felt like it was trying to eat itself, so he kept eating. After a few seconds, he slowed down enough to answer her question, the sweet taste of the grass and bitter taste of the flowers still lingering on his tongue. “Dunno where we are. Th’ name’s Jingchun, though you can just call me Jun,” he told her, clicking his tongue a few times. His headache was fading, so the image he received was much clearer than before. “A big field, huh...” he commented idly, before turning his head towards the girl again, bits of grass and flowers stuck in his scraggly beard. “How about you, what’s your name? Where’re you from?

Quin quietly watched the two, having sat up and pulled her legs to the side. This Jun boy seemed far too open to be from either Bing or Baiyu. Perhaps a small country? He didn’t seem all that sophisticated, judging from the way he ate, so maybe her assumption was spot on. After all, she was fairly certain there wasn’t even this much open space in Bing, either.

A small frown crossed her face, and she clenched her rock tighter, the air swirling her hand and causing a slight breeze. Good, at least she still had a good defense, rather than just relying on her human abilities.

"Oh my...," Rien murmured to herself inaudibly as she watched the man devour the grass and nearby wildflowers. He must have been particularly hungry to resort to such extreme measures, though such an act seemed to match his worn appearance quite well. It looked as if the poor guy had been through quite a lot. There was no telling what sorts of things he had to face in the past, but she shrugged that off for now. He had been polite enough to answer her question and introduce himself. "My name is Rien Saffir, but just call me Rien." She allowed a soft smile to crawl upon her face. "It's nice to meet you, Jun." Knowing that he was a friendly fellow definitely helped assuage her fears. Maybe she wouldn't have to face all of this alone after all, seeing as how she wasn't the only one who had know idea where they were. She thought about how she should answer his second question, and decided in the end to just answer it as if she were talking to another person on Alidaire.

"As for where I'm from, I live in Altinor, you know--the capitol of Elendia," the girl responded, taking a moment to take some of the sweet grass out of her blonde hair and tossing it aside. "I used to have a townhouse in the residential district, but when my sister got promoted to Captain of the Royal Knights, I was allowed a place to stay at the castle." She seemed satisfied with her answer, but still couldn't help feeling that things were a bit...off. He's from somewhere on Alidaire, too, right? Maybe from another continent...I've never seen someone quite as remarkable as him around Elendia before, Rien thought, subconsciously picking some grass from beside her and placing into her mouth. It tasted like candy and she nearly swooned as she swallowed the delicious plant. Blinking her navy blue eyes, she noticed the other girl that was with them wasn't saying too much.

"So who is your friend here, Jun?" Rien asked gently, gesturing towards Quin with one hand. "She's very quiet." The woman's eyes fell upon Quin and she addressed the girl directly. "You're not from around here either, are you?" she asked, fairly certain of what the answer would be. If she had been from this area, she would have spoken up, surely.

A small frown crossed Jun’s face, the emotion looking a bit odd and unfamiliar to him. Elendia? He’d never heard of a place like that. Perhaps it was a country started up after the Storm? It had to be pretty advanced to have a castle, and a residential district. “Sounds pretty advanced for Post-Storm,” he commented, clicking his tongue and looking over at Quin after a moment.

The dark haired girl seemed to shift uncomfortably at the attention. After listening intently to their conversation and hearing nothing familiar in the least, she realized that she certainly wasn’t anywhere near Baiyu or Bing. “My name is Quin Phoenix, comrade #311594058, citizen of Baiyu,” she spoke aloud, her voice quiet, though still a bit harsh. She introduced herself formally, though most of it wouldn’t mean a thing to these other people.

Seeing the other two eat the grass, Quin picked a blade as well, out of curiosity, putting it in her mouth. The sweet taste flooded her tastebuds, and a look of surprise crossed her blank face for a second, before her expression returned to neutral. This grass was much better than her chocolate ration, and definitely more plentiful. Part of her wanted to imitate Jun and start inhaling the stuff, though she kept her composed exterior.

An awkward silence ensued, and Jun spoke up. “Y’know, both of you guys’ homes sound pretty advanced for being after the Storm. I’ve seen civilization, but not much more than huts.” This was starting to become weird. Two different advanced places he’d never heard of?

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

"Oh, Quin. Such an adorable name," Rien replied sweetly with a smile. Despite her happy demeanor, tons of thoughts were coursing through her mind. Baiyu? Something about a storm? Was there another continent on Alidaire by that name that hadn't been discovered yet? Maybe there was a big storm on it, if the two were from the same place, though it hardly seemed likely. As much as it pained her to accept, these two were not from her world which means they were brought to this place--wherever it was--forcefully from their own home worlds. It wouldn't do any harm to ask now, since the other two were probably coming to the same conclusion. "Neither of you hail from Alidaire, right? Alidaire is the name of the world I come from," she asked and further explained just a bit. Even if they had come from the same world she came from, it wouldn't have made much of a difference. They were still as lost as ever. She munched on a few more blades of grass and enjoyed the delightful breeze. It was so peaceful here, wherever they were. At least there was that to cling onto for the moment.

Kazu had navigated his way back to the main path he had taken. It was easy to pick out traces of human impact in this forest that seemed to be untouched. It was also a good thing that he hadn't made an effort to cover his tracks like he normally would as an assassin. To be untraceable was something he had to keep in mind, but these circumstances seemed a bit different. Being out in the woods without having to worry about crazy creatures attacking seemed immensely foreign to him. It was actually a nice change of pace. The monsters back on his home world attacked both civilians and the sorcerer's men indiscriminately. He had to be cruel to let his own people die at the hands of the monsters that he brought onto the world. His blood began to boil at the thought and he tried to speed up his pace until he was hardly a blur, zipping over the bushes again and dodging nimbly around trees. When he finally got to the clearing, it took him quite a bit of effort to skid to a halt causing blades of grass to float up into the air, cleaved from their place on the ground by Kazu's boots.

"I see we're all making friends here," Kazu spoke up lightheartedly at the sight of the three talking. All three of them were munching on the grass. Were they really all that hungry or was it just good? He knew sweet things could be awfully addictive.

"AAAAHHH!!" Rien screamed at the sight of the man in the tattered cloak dashing out of the woods. She didn't care what he said, he was awfully scary-looking. The messy hair and single, visible crimson eye along with the weapons gave him the image of some kind of villain. Was he going to kill them? And to think that she actually thought this place was kind of nice...

Kazu scratched his head and ignored Rien's reaction for now, reaching for his flask now filled with water. He walked over to Jun and held it out, offering for the man to take it. "Be prepared when you drink this stuff. It's not dirty. As a matter of fact, it's so clean it'll probably knock the breath out of you. Just a friendly warning," he said with a nervous laugh remembering his own reaction to drinking the water.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:26 pm

Jun shook his head at the unfamiliar name, having never heard of a place called Alidaire, or Baiyu. His shaggy black hair got in his face at the movement, though it didn’t seem to bother him in the slightest. Quin shook her head as well. While she didn’t like to be egotistical, she did pride herself in being quite intelligent, and Alidaire was definitely not the name of any country she’d heard of.

“Oh, hello,” the blind man responded upon hearing Kazu’s voice again, before jumping to his feet as Rien screamed. “What’s wrong?” he demanded, clicking his tongue and finding nothing out of the ordinary. A puzzled look crossed his face, which quickly disappeared as Kazu spoke to him.

He clicked his tongue again, reaching for the flask and missing it by a few inches on the first try, before nabbing it on the second. “Thanks for the warning. Clean water certainly is welcome, though,” he stated, patting the flask and figuring out how to open it after a few seconds. He took Kazu’s warning, sipping the water and stumbling backwards in surprise. “That’s...clean,” he stated, before downing the rest. A shudder wracked his lanky form, though in Jun’s opinion, it was worth it. He wiped his mouth on the sleeve of his patched shirt, clicking his tongue and giving Kazu a thumbs up. “I’m afraid I never asked your name, though thanks for the water.

Quin, on the other hand, had clenched her rock as Rien screamed, though she recognized the man’s voice as the whistler. A small breeze blew past her, blowing her bangs out of her eyes momentarily. “He left while you were sleeping,” she told the frightened girl, seeming rather unnaturally calm about this whole ordeal.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

"O-oh," Rien uttered as Quin gave her the brief explanation. If that were the case, then he was just like them, right? He looked like someone who might live on Alidaire, but by this point, she had given up. Where they came from didn't matter anymore. It was just a formality. A light blush crossed her face as she realized she had done a bit of screaming. It must have made her look silly. Keeping the thought to herself, she stood up and brushed some of the sweet grass off of her dress, already eating her fill of the stuff. She would have picked some to take along with her if she had her satchel on her, but when she had fallen unconscious, she wasn't exactly planning on going anywhere except for an exotic place in her dreams. The thought of this being some weird dream was always a possibility, but...the pain was so real. And the anxiety. And the uniqueness of the people. The thoughts. The sensations. There was no way this was a dream.

Kazu took back the drained flask and flipped it upside down, watching as only a few drops trickled out. He raised an eyebrow at the fact but said nothing, belting the flask once again. "No problem, friend. Call me Kazu," he introduced himself lightly, not bothering to bow his head or anything since the fellow obviously wouldn't be able to see the gesture. "Getting all of your names would be nice, too, since we seem to be stuck in this mess together." He didn't know what the others were thinking, but splitting up seemed to be pointless, especially since they all arrived here for a reason. The only problem was finding out what that reason was and trying to get back to their homes. Kazu still had some vengeance to exact upon a certain sorcerer, and he wasn't too keen on waiting for the sun to die in order to do it. These thoughts put a rather displeased grimace onto his face.

"The name's Rien. Sorry for screaming, but...," Rien offered in apology, but wound up blushing again in embarrassment. "You look like some kind of villain. There, I said it. Please don't take offense," she spoke hurriedly, so the words were kind of jumbled. Looking around, her eyes settled on Quin since she was the only one other than herself who could see clearly. "R-right, Quin? Doesn't he look at least a little scary?" Was that a bit of sweat she felt forming on her brow? Though the man was obviously nice enough, what if he had a temper? She didn't mean to offend. With those weapons of his, he could tear her apart in an instant to be sure. She gulped nervously, hoping no one would notice.

Jun nodded, repeating the name in his head so he wouldn’t forget. “Jingchun at your service, though Jun’s a lot easier to say,” he chuckled, brushing back his tangled dark hair. Hearing Rien, he scratched his beard in thought, wondering what his companions looked like. Apparently, Kazu was scary looking, though he didn’t really sound it.

Quin looked over at Kazu, before back at Rien, feeling a bit insulted herself. While she wasn’t as intimidating as Kazu, they both possessed similar qualities, such as long dark hair and red eyes. “Looks like a Bing soldier,” she answered after a few moments of thought. Yes, Kazu did have a certain element of fear attached to him, though it failed to scare her that much. “The poster ones,” she added on as a second thought. While she’d never seen a real Bing soldier, her father had, and told her they looked nothing like the ones on the poster. The real ones were far less terrifying.

A slight pang of sadness passed through Jun, as he was feeling a bit left out. He wanted to know what these poster Bing soldiers looked like, since Kazu looked like one. A single hand reached up to pull off his blindfold, actually taking the worn fabric in his callused fingers, before he flicked himself in the forehead. “Sha, sha, Jingchun,” he muttered scornfully at himself.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Kazu shrugged his shoulders as if he were unaffected by their comments. Given his profession, it would only be natural to be intimidating. However, Quin looked like she was ready to beat someone down herself, her muscles being rather well-developed for such a young girl. This fact seemed to make Kazu feel a bit more at ease. Maybe she did have some fighting potential, granted it probably wouldn't be of any use in this place. The worse he had run into in the forest were woodland creatures, and he doubted any of those would put up a decent fight. "I'm no soldier, but back where I come from, I used to be an assassin," Kazu explained, training his eye on Quin as he replied. "The sorcerer tasked me with marks to kill and I followed through with each and every one until I got sick of what he was doing to the world. I wound up defecting," he concluded dismissively, a somewhat pained expression upon his face. He didn't bother going into the details of how he lost the one he loved. That was a misfortune he'd rather keep to himself.

Nodding her head, Rien's eyes flickered over to Jun for a moment, seeing him fiddle with his blindfold. "My apologies if I'm being too brash for asking, but why is it that you where a blindfold, Jun?" she inquired as softly as she could. She didn't mean to get up in his business, but curiosity got the best of her. Rien had a natural knack for learning, and when there was something she didn't know, she sought to rectify that by gaining knowledge. Having spent a rather decent portion of her life with her nose buried in books, it was safe to say that such attempts at sated her curiosity were rather commonplace, second nature even.

Though finding it to be at least a little bit in bad taste, Kazu kept silent after Rien asked her question. In the back of his mind, it was something he had been wondering about also. His eyes shot towards the distance for a moment where the mountains were, but then focused them on Jun. The grove seemed to be as peaceful as it had when he first woke up. No signs of danger could be found anywhere. Guess there's no reason to be panicked now. I'd say it's a good thing we're all getting along well enough, he thought to himself.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:21 pm

Quin slipped her rock back into her pocket, smoothing out her beige dress. Kazu reminded her a bit of her mother, though he was definitely more open. She supposed that living in a world ruled by a sorcerer did not mean you had to like him, or the secret police would find you and kill you. It would be nice to be able to have a freedom like that in her world, even if the Dictator was still in charge.

Hearing Rien’s question, Jun laughed a bit awkwardly, messing up his hair even more. “Well...I really am blind, and my face is a bit...gruesome. Tends to scare people off, so it’s easier just to cover it up,” he answered. At least he was telling the partial truth. He liked these people, though, and didn’t want to scare them off by showing them his extra toe, the skin that had grown over his empty eye sockets, or the cursed third eye right in the middle of his forehead. “It’s better this way, though I do get a bit of an odd tan, or so I’ve been told,” he added, chuckling as he pulled up his blindfold just a bit so Rien could see the awkward contrast between his browned skin and his almost sickly-looking hidden skin.

A twitch passed over Quin’s neutral expression. Jun was hiding something under that blindfold. She could tell when people were lying, and Jun was not a very good liar to begin with. She didn’t bring it up with the group, though. If Jun didn’t want to say anything, she figured it wasn’t life threatening or anything.

Rien listened intently to Jun's explanation and laughed as he lifted his blindfold a bit to prove his point. "It is just as when people wear sunglasses back on Alidaire. If they spend a lot of time in the sun, their faces get burnt or tanned, but when they take off their glasses, there's nothing but white," she said, trying to stifle her laughing. She also wanted to question about his haggard appearance, but that would have been rude. Wherever he came from, he obviously was having a rough time and that was enough to satisfy her for now. As for his fashion statement with the blindfold, she didn't understand what he meant by 'gruesome', but she'd let it be. Some people weren't very confident in their appearances. She was sure he was just exaggerating but refrained from saying such a thing in an effort to keep things on a light note.

Kazu's visible crimson eye darted to Quin's expression as he noted the subtle twitch and wondered what she could be thinking. He kept his gaze on her long enough to let her know he noticed something, if she had noticed him looking at her at all, before putting his arms up with his hands resting on the back of his head. "Well, I think blindfolds look pretty cool personally," he spoke up with a slight grin. "You pull it off rather well. But I think we should put a slight delay to the small talk and figure out what we should do from here. Anyone else to figuring out exactly where we are? Obvious answer to that, right?" Again his vision flashed to the mountains. What was up there? His keen eyes picked up the cables; they stood out fairly well. Even the others would be able to catch them, save Jun. But, what were those things peeking up from beyond the peaks? Could they be...?

Rustling suddenly came from a nearby bush, but it was very subtle...

As the bush rustled, Jun quickly turned and lunged towards it, mostly out of habit. His hearing was much better than his eyesight, and when it came to suspicious noises that could be food, he had to act fast. Once in the bush, he groped around, trying to grab hold of whatever had made the noise.

Jun’s quick movement gave Quin a bit of a shock, the wind picking up around her as she clenched her rock in her pocket, before quickly dying down as she watched him flail around in the bush. “...What?” she muttered, trying to go back and relive the past few seconds mentally. Maybe then she wouldn’t be as lost.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by Masquerade Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:17 pm

Kazu raised an eyebrow at Jun's sudden actions. Why attack the bush? Was there something he had missed? The assassin entered a fighting stance, his clawed gauntlets poised to strike. If there was something dangerous, he was worried about Jun, though he seemed to make a fine wrestler, grappling whatever was hiding within. Was there something within? He blinked as he noticed some more arms and legs in the bushes that certainly didn't belong to Jun, for the skin was so white...almost like snow. He didn't lower his defensive stance. If it was a person, what in the world were they doing hiding in a bush? I hope it's not because of my appearance again. Am I really that villainous looking? he thought to himself. The person could have very well thought that they were the dangerous ones. Well, whoever it was could certainly do with some stealth lessons, granted none of them would have noticed if Jun's apparent keen hearing hadn't picked up on something because Kazu knew there was no way he could see what was there.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to eavesdrop!" a female voice shouted, oddly high in pitch but not so much that it would cause any ache to the ears. It was almost soothing. It reminded Kazu of the whistling sound when he blew into the grass. Jun had successfully caught himself a woman, and with some force, that same woman managed to roll both of them out of the bush, her form still stuck in Jun's grasp. Her hair was almost as white as her skin and beautiful to no end. Her eyes were a crystalline blue so fierce that it made Kazu's heart skip a beat. Her lips were a soft pink, and her skin was flawless, the epitome of elegant perfection. A lot of her hair had fallen into her face, for it was rather long, and an ashamed look plastered upon that porcelain face. She was wearing a long, flowing white dress that splayed out just a bit around her ankles, draping over her sandal-adorned feet. She didn't attempt to struggle in Jun's grasp.

"Pleeeeaaaassseee, I'm sooo sorry! I know it was rude of me, but I couldn't help myself. Oooh, and I'm supposed to be a good role model. Look at me now," she exclaimed in theatrical despair. It was obvious that she thought she had done something wrong and was about to get punished for it.

"Looks like Jun caught a live one," Rien offered whimsically, quite taken aback by the turn of events. Nothing could get past Jun's hearing.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:33 pm

A puzzled look crossed Jun’s face when he heard the woman’s voice, reaching out and touching her face with his hand to make sure she wasn’t some monster with the voice of a woman. “You’re not a rabbit,” he stated, almost sounding a bit disappointed, as he couldn’t actually see the woman. He’d been hoping for a meal, not another traveling partner.

After getting over the shock of having caught a woman in a bush, the blind man let go of her, taking a step back, still looking rather confused. “What?” he repeated what Quin had said earlier, not quite sure what the woman was going on about. “I can’t really look at you, so...someone explain?” he asked, clicking his tongue and turning his head so he was “looking” around the field, as if the answer would pop out and hit him in the face.

Quin watched the woman, feeling rather awkward at such a display of emotion. She’d only seen such emotion from Doctor Martin, and he didn’t count, since he was five different people. “Why were you hiding in the bush?” she asked bluntly, deciding not to (haha) beat around the bush. “What’s the point of eavesdropping on us? Where are we?” It was probably the longest string of sentences Quin had said the whole time they were here.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by Masquerade Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:50 pm

As Quin launched the line of necessary questioning, Rien decided to explain things just a bit more clearly for Jun. "Well, you managed to catch a woman in the bush that was eavesdropping on us. She's very beautiful...and very...er, white," Rien said, tilting her head slightly as she looked the woman up and down. White hair. White skin. White dress. If it weren't for those vibrant, blue eyes, she may as well have looked like someone took all the color out of her. "But Quin's questions hit home. We're kind of desperate for answers anyway," she added nervously, focusing her attention to the woman. Rien wondered if this woman was used to being caught in bushes like she was. Hopefully eavesdropping wasn't a big thing in...wherever they were.

The woman rose and brushed some of the leaves from the bushes off her dress before replying promptly, her composure seemingly instantly regained. "Oh, there's no point really," she chimed with ease. "But I suppose it was true; you aren't from this world at all." Tapping a foot against the ground, she thought for a moment. "Right now you're in Tranquil Grove in the realm of Sanctuary. This place is my responsibility to take care of. My name is Grace, a wondrous gardener. I tend to the grass which I see you have found to be to your liking, along with the trees and shrubs. I make a habit of making sure the woodland animals are doing all right as well," she continued, taking in a sharp breath towards the end. She reached down and plucked a blade of grass and placed it in her mouth. "Quite good, quite good."

Kazu's eye twitched slightly. This woman was really something else, but she finally provided them with something valuable: answers. They were in a completely different world here. No sorcerer. No scary soldiers on posters. No storm. No castles and Royal Knights. So the location part was something they had down, and that was nice and all, but how in the world had they come to a different world, and why was it the four of them? Now that was a tidbit of information he wouldn't mind knowing, but with the woman as clueless as she appeared, Kazu merely shrugged his shoulders as he realized she most likely wouldn't know the answer to that.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:08 pm

A pink flush spread across Jun’s face, seeming to be concentrated at his ears. “Oh. Sorry,” he mumbled ashamedly, half-wishing he could see this beautiful white woman. Even if there were pretty girls back home, none of them were white, everyone was tanned. His temptation to unleash chaos upon this open field seemed much stronger than usual, though he blamed it on this place being so unfamiliar.

Quin frowned thoughtfully, trying to let the idea of being in a new world sink in. She couldn’t really imagine a life without secrets, or a life without the Dictator, even if it was the life she would eventually start fighting for. “Mother and Father would like it here...” she murmured quietly to herself, her mind drifting back to her parents. Unlike most of those of her generation, she actually liked her parents, or at least as much as any teenager could. This was the world they were fighting for. How odd for it to actually be named “Sanctuary,” though.

For the first time since arriving on this strange world, an actual emotion settled itself on Quin’s face. She tried to rub the tears from her eyes, smiling happily to herself like a fool. There was hope! If this world existed here, then why couldn’t it exist back home? Everything her parents had put their lives into, everything she would put her own life into, it wasn’t just some mythical story. It could happen, and that was all she really needed.

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by Masquerade Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:53 pm

"It's okay, Jun. She shouldn't have been sneaking around in the bushes," Rien stated firmly in an attempt to comfort him, going as far as to pat him gently on the shoulder. All in all, Rien was still amazed at his reaction. When people heard things in bushes, they usually didn't go and jump into the shrubbery. Maybe he came from a world that was just that dangerous, such that you couldn't take the chance that it might be something planning your demise? The thought of the shape of what Jun's world might be in made her shudder. It was probably a good thing that he was brought here, she allowed herself to think. She thought back to him practically shoving the grass in his mouth as if he wouldn't be able to get another proper meal in a long time. Or how he drained Kazu's flask of the water with ease.

"Sanctuary is a wonderful place. Only diehard sinners would find it easy to dislike this realm," Grace said, focused on Quin, her smile a bit disconcerted on seeing such emotion. "Whatever you're feeling, hold onto it. You never know when the thoughts passing through your mind now might be of aid to you," she said sweetly, smoothing out her dress a bit. "I take it most of you have some rough backgrounds? Sanctuary has a greater impact on people such as yourselves," she explained matter-of-factly as if it were some undeniable truth. She turned her back to the group and faced the mountains in the distance. "Hmm, what is it that you wish to do now that you're here?" she inquired, her tone unreadable at this point. It gave her a sort of enigmatic feel.

Kazu knew what his answer was. "I'd like to get back to my home world. I have unfinished business there that needs urgent attending to," he stated sourly. Did the woman have a way to achieve this? It was hard to judge from her tone. Before, she seemed to be making light of everything, including their distress. 'People like them?' Nice to know he, Quin, and Jun were so troubled as to be greatly affected by this magnificent world. He didn't include Rien because she seemed to be quite well off in wherever she came from. "I don't know about the others. I'm not a mind reader."

Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP) Empty Re: Thought Dispersion (A SuvixMasq RP)

Post by quackers are yummylicious Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:25 pm

Quin rubbed her eyes again, her small burst of emotion gone. “I would like to return home as well, after learning more about this place,” she stated in a quiet, unreadable tone. She wished that the other members of the resistance group could see this place, too. It was just so beautiful, no smoke, posters, trash...it was the exact opposite of home.

Jun clicked his tongue, more in thought than the need to see. “I dunno. It’s certainly a lot better here than the wasteland. Not like I left much behind, either... On the other hand, my presence might not be...welcomed here,” he finished vaguely, rubbing his forehead through the cloth, or rather, his third eye. He didn’t want to destroy this peaceful place with this curse. It’d probably be better if he just rotted in the wasteland.

There he goes again... Quin thought, the corners of her mouth twitching into a frown. Whatever he was hiding, that blindfold had something to do with it. She needed to be on her toes at all times, it seemed. Jun was a little too quick and mysterious to be trusted. She doubted it wouldn’t take long for him to slit all their throats, even if she didn’t know why he would want them dead.

"I certainly wouldn't mind getting back to Alidaire. I can't leave my sister behind, that's for sure," Rien voiced her answer. For now, it seemed they all had the same goal. So what now? Rien tilted her head as if waiting for Grace to open some mystical portal that would allow them to all go home and this weird, dream-like circumstance would be over at last, not that she had been too particularly bothered by it. She was among nice people and the realm they had wound up in was nice as well. It was an interesting way to spend the day, but now it was time to go. She looked at Grace expectantly, but the gardener refused to turn around. She just kept staring up at the mountains for whatever reason. Rien began to grow impatient. Quite a few moments of awkward silence passed before Grace started walking forward a bit, stopping in her tracks after taking only a couple of steps.

"If you want to go home, I think you should follow me to Paradise," she said, her voice still possessing that unreadable tone. "It's the only city in this realm. There, you will be able to consult with the Council," she explained.

"And the Council is....?" Kazu asked, trailing off at the end. He could very well guess that they were some sort of authority here and would probably know more about how and why they ended up where they did because it turned out Grace was certainly not a well of valuable information, though he was grateful for her at least telling them where they were and apparently offering to take them to civilization, whereas without her, they would have had to struggle through everything on their own.

"The Council is composed of seven people, each representing a cardinal virtue like Chastity and Kindness," Grace replied easily. "They govern this realm with the ultimate goal of preserving the peace and purity of it. Sin is not tolerated here, and as it stands, is nonexistent in this land." Despite saying that last part with a learned confidence, she fidgeted slightly as if something unsettled her about something having to do with the comment. "If anyone will know how to get you home, it would be them, though I fear they have some other troubles on their mind at the current moment. Regardless, they'll make time for you, I know it. It's in their creed." She put on a huge smile, but didn't turn around to show them. "So, will you follow me?"

Jun nervously ran a hand through his tangled hair. He figured that meant he was going home. If sin wasn’t tolerated here, he doubted they would allow some man with a cursed eye to hang around. “I’ll follow,” he answered, clicking his tongue a few times. He suddenly didn’t feel very comfortable here, despite the large amount of food and water. Even the seemingly infinite wasteland felt inviting now.

A small sigh passed through Quin’s lips at the mention of a “council.” Here she thought that the people governed themselves, but there were still a group of almighty rulers. Even Grace seemed a bit afraid of them. Perhaps this land was far from the perfect paradise she had imagined, though there was still a chance. It still seemed better than Capitol City, that was for sure. “I will follow as well...” she murmured, brushing the grass off of her beige dress. No point in being left behind, after all.

"Seems like we don't really have much of a choice," Kazu tossed his own reply into the mix. Where else were they supposed to go? Before Jun had managed to catch Grace lurking in the bushes, he was already planning on taking the others to the mountains anyway to see what lie beyond them. Now that Grace had affirmed his suspicions, he knew that there was actually a city up there somewhere. It was at least a relief to him that he wouldn't have been leading the others to the edges of oblivion or some such nonsense. There was something wrong though. Why on earth did Jun want to leave this paradise to go back to where he came from? Where he was starving and thirsting nearly to death? For someone like him, this place would be the answer to prayers, so why had he not deigned to stay? Your world's not perfect either, and yet you're still going back..., he thought to himself. He noted Rien hadn't said anything more, yet it was obvious she was coming along as well. Grace was walking ahead so he followed along with the others who said they would follow. He continued to be lost in his thoughts. Yeah, but I've got to go back. Set things right. With the way things are going, my world is doomed to die...

Walking onwards led by Grace, it turned out that there was actually a rather nice path leading out of the grove, and that a large, well-kept hedge archway marked the entrance with a white wooden sign atop it. It read: "Tranquil Grove" with the words in calligraphic writing. It was quite elegant. Rien took a fancy to it; it reminded her a lot of her own home. She was tempted to steal Grace away and take her back to Alidaire. She also wanted to kidnap Jun, for that matter. Her eyes darted towards him and his haggard appearance. She didn't like the idea of him going back to whatever he was facing in his home world. She also wondered if she was the only one who thought so. A subtle sigh escaped her lips as they continued walking on in silence...well, near silence. Grace was at the lead, her gait rather merry while humming a gentle tune. The birds in the tall trees lining the path seemed to peer down at the gardener in admiration, adding their own sweet portions to the melody with their chirping. So peaceful...

I can't let him just go back like that, Rien thought firmly, still thinking about Jun. I'll see if he won't come with me back to Alidaire. It might not be a Sanctuary, but it still has to be nicer than what he has to go back to. At the time, she figured nothing was wrong about her thought process. Why would he not want to go? She convinced herself that there would be no reason. When they were able to find a way to get to their home worlds, that's when she would approach him about it. She nodded to herself and smiled uncontrollably at the thought. It took a lot of effort to hold back her joy. Instead, she tried to focus on Grace as they made their way along the path.

"It won't be too much longer now," Grace finally spoke up after a while of walking. The mountains were definitely getting closer, for the mountains were starting to loom over them now. "Is anyone here afraid of heights, by any chance?"
