Amaranthos; Land of the Unfading Flower Empty Re: Amaranthos; Land of the Unfading Flower

~Description~

Amaranthos. It is a country completely isolated from the world below, instead taking residence above the clouds. Every single grain of soil in Amaranthos is sewn together by magic, and without it, the woven thread would tear causing the entire country to crumble. The islands float by magic. The atmosphere is breathable by magic. Every plant, every creature, has instilled within them the splendor of magic...Amaranthos may very well be the most potently magical place in Galamion. So are the people, whose lives and, in fact, identities revolve around magic.
The archipelago is composed of nine islands, and the people of this country are divided into four ethnic groups. The islands are as follows: Hieros, Land of the Harmonic; Ketos, Land of the Merges; Lithos, Land of the Bionȱ; Kentron, Home of the Tekton; Aeido, Capitol of Amaranthos; Aduton, the Forbidden Land; Aither, Place of Shifting Stones; Apokopto, a small village island; and Kuklo, the Flight Land.

The four ethnic groups are the Harmonia, the Merges, the Bionȱ, and the Tekton. Each of these ethnic groups are capable of wielding magic, and they hold a vast and mutual respect for each other. They have always dwelt upon the archipelago together, and only through their combined magical efforts has Amaranthos been able to survive and prosper.

~Harmonia~

The Harmonia are users of ancient magic. They call upon spirits of the past and summons from different dimensions to aid them when needed. On occasion, they have a talent for primal life magic as well.
Though their habitat is not restrained to any single isle, they are mostly found on the islands of Hieros and Lithos, mainly on the former. They are humanoid in appearance, possessing nearly all natural human characteristics in terms of physical appearance, save for one detail: eye color. Their appearance and nature is greatly influenced by the spirits and summons that they conjure the most--ones that they form the greatest bonds with at a very early age.
They have been known to be rather saucy, and even come off as arrogant at times, but not overly so. Wherever they can help out, they do, for they love their country and all those who inhabit it beside them.

~Merges~
The Merges are a humanoid-bestial race with forms ranging from nearly completely beast to nearly completely human, a wide and varying spectrum in-between. Most live on Ketos, though they can be found throughout Amaranthos.
Their abilities vary depending on the animal that their form is derived from. They can have many different features including possessing snouts, horns, fins, hooves, or even wings instead of arms. The variance is nearly unfathomable. Most of them are rather bulky in size, and have eye colors that are more autumnal in nature; red, yellow, and brown. As a species, they possess great strength, and they are very capable fighters. Despite this fact, however, most of their time and effort is spent building, caring for the sick and injured, and/or helping with recreation.
Their personalities often vary depending on the animal they identify with, but as a whole, they are known to be docile and wise.
Besides physical appearance, they have a great affinity for the Earth element: rock, mud, dirt, etc. Some can shift their forms, and they tend to be the closest to nature, which is important to all Amarans. As such, they are greatly respected.

~Biono~
The Bionȱ are strict users of elemental magic that dwell mainly on Lithos. Different people of this race will typically use different elements, though there are times where a person will master two or three. Ice, fire, water, and wind are examples of the sort of magic that the Bionȱ wield.
They are humanoid in appearance, much like the Harmonia; however, their appearance is apt to change as they use their magic. An Ice Bionȱ, for example, will gain physical characteristics of ice the more that he or she executes his or her magic, and likewise with the other elements.
They are quite well-known for their fluctuating and erratic personalities, most of them being on the more extremely eccentric side. It is not uncommon for a Bionȱ to be as cool as ice itself one moment, then blazing in a burst of fiery anger the next, so to speak.

~Tektonic~
The Tekton are an advanced, heavily Steam-punk influenced people living mostly on the island of Kentron. Many are born genius, apt to the technological field to a near impossible point. The average Tekton can make at least a musical pocket-watch before they learn to speak, and when they get older the things they can do with machinery are simply awe-inspiring. The clockwork animals abundant in Kentron would put a well-seasoned engineer to shame, and even so, most of the creatures running around are harmless practice set loose to conserve parts; they can easily be caught by use of other technology and then disassembled for supplies. Most if not all Tektonic Kentron machines run on clockwork or similar structuring. It's neigh impossible to live there without a rudimentary understanding for technology, and so while the island would be the dream of a fledgling engineer, it's more like a temporary paradise for anyone else, soon becoming a culture shock. While most of their ability is product of their machines and relative genius, Tektonic often wield magics related to the field. Technopathy, metal detection, and steam control are just a few. Others also wield rudimentary pyromancy and or slight metal manipulation and power over electricity. Once in a Blue Moon a Tekton will develop a skill for time magic, but this is extremely rare, and for the moment only seen in two people (if you'd like to make one with such a skill, Imma have to RNG you). Tekton appearance is rather normal, if pale-skinned, and gold is actually a rather common hair color (though it might be from all the work). Often their look is infused with various devices that they've made, useful or not.
They have varying personalities but most are proper people (if slightly awkward), organized, and punctual; perhaps it's the fault of all that clockwork handling.

~Government system~
It is made sure that each ethic group of people on Amaranthos is represented equally, even though they get along just fine. From each group, 25 people are elected by the people to form the Lower Council. The Lower Council is very involved with the people, living amongst them, talking and listening actively, as well as reading concern letters and the like. They're frequently about town; there is not the crippling prestige that comes with the title. Of these 100 Lower Council members, 5 from each group are elected to form the High Council. The people elect them and then the Lower Council elected them; those with the most cumulative votes in each category win. Of these 20 High Council members, 1 from each group is then elected to form the Consolate. The Consolate is elected by the people, Lower Council, and High Council. These four are the leaders of Amaranthos. They are advised by the High Council, who are advised by the Lower Council. Anyone may speak to a Consolate member by appointment. During times of dire need when action is needed immediately, one Consolate member has slight authority over the rest. This power cycles between them every five weeks.

~Military and Fighting~
The military is split into four parts for training so that strengths and weaknesses are best worked on. These groups are the Harmonic-like Body, Merge-like Body, Bionic-like Body and the Tektonic-like Body. Despite these separations during training, the military works as one body and frequently spars against the others for training. At the head of each body is a general (Commander's right-hand man), and above them are the Commanders. The Commanders take general orders from the Consolate and then apply them to the field of battle. The military consists of about 2.8 million people.
The Amaran military, however, is not exactly experienced with fighting against other people save themselves in spars or rare civil war. Being so far up in the sky without opposing civilizations means they have never had to. The military is trained not to fight humans, but beasts of the air. Dragons, Griffin, Lockjaw, Harpy; beasts of the air. Their aerial combat is superb; after all, they live in the sky. It's not at all wise to fight an Amaran soldier off of the ground; actually, plainly said, it's a pretty stupid move.
Besides bestial/feral aerial life, the Amaran are also quite adept at fighting Sky Pirates. When you frequently roam the skies above the clouds, it's nearly inevitable that you run into Amaranthos. Usually upon sight with the islands and their people, their riches, Pirates get the "itching palm". Amaranthos is prepared.

~BRIEF ISLAND DESCRIPTIONS~
Hieros – Sacred – Land of the Harmonia – 19,378,102 people - 98,380 sq mi

Hieros is a whimsical and magical land, being perhaps the most magic oriented island in the already magic oriented Amaranthos. The place is nearly a wonderland; misty ponds and bogs dot the otherwise grassy and hilly landscape. Strange herbs and magic fauna flourish under the ancient and enchanted atmosphere. Most things here are blessed or cursed, governed by magic and working by magic. Lights are charms and even simple things such as pencils and papers are easy candidates to be working under charm. This is in part because of the majority that lives here; the Harmonia. The island is loved and chock-full of sacred and ancient spirits, making it the perfect living quarters for the summoners of the ancient from other dimensions, those who focus on primal life magic, and healers, among other things. The climate depends largely on the position of the island in the sky and the spirits that inhabit the area. Dwellings range from buildings to houses integrated into trees and toadstools. There are a few small villages, but most settlements are gathered into small and natural cities. It is said that Marun, the Sacred Spirit of Ancient Time, was first summoned here and still watches over the island.
The ruling Consolate member for the Harmonia is Akouo "Ako" Ancit.

Ketos – Whale – Merges – 12,702,379 people - 97,813 sq mi

Ketos is perhaps what most people would consider underdeveloped, but this is only because of the affinity it has with nature. This island, home to the Merge majority, is probably the most natural island on the already nature-oriented Amaranthos. All sorts of plants and animals flourish here, their numbers and comfort made possible by the nature of the dominant race and supported by the diverse mix of geography that has laid claim to the island. Animals are respected on Ketos more than any place else, partly because any animal could easily actually be a Merge; some Merge are quadrupedal. Housing depends on the geography of the area. Dense forests are known for their towns in the trees, while vast plains have their bustling villages in systems of holes and tunnels underground, tents pitched at various entrances. Homes in the mountains are built into and around rocks, and for those who can breathe underwater, there are a few small cities in lakes and rivers. Less extreme housing includes simple huts, and there, though limited, are a few near modern buildings; most of these would be in Ketos' one industrial city, Shentra.
It is not uncommon in Amaranthos for birds to nest safely in one's house. It is not uncommon either for a deer or two, or even a griffin or small dragon to walk through one's front door, through the living area, and out of the back. Ketos, however, is the only place where all animals frequently do such a thing, and the only place where the houses even have special rooms to accommodate such frequent happenings.
Climate depends largely on the position of the island in the sky and the geography of the area. This geography is a sort of gradient; Jungles flourish in the far east, followed by dense forests, clearer forests, hills and trees, etc. By the time one gets to the far west there's vast plains, a small desert at the farthest reaches. Towards the north there are a few mountains and high rocky hills, some "naturally" manufactured by tens of thousands of Merge collectively using their Earth Manipulation magic. Lakes, ponds, and rivers are scattered throughout.
It is said that the animals of Ketos are specially bonded to the island itself, and that they will gather into a protective frenzy at any sort of immense and direct harm to the land.
Current Consolate member is Kingsley Brights.
