Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer

"Who, the people on the battlefield? Yeah, I can, I'm trying to help!" Luke cried, reigning in his fire so as not to hurt Kira. He watched Kira bat the man away in a kind of awe, shocked at how powerful she could be, and almost immediately had the look wiped off his face as the vine tightened. "Kira, stop, please!"

"Not the people, the plants! They're in pain!" Kira explained frustratedly, raising Luke up a little before dropping him. "You're burning them alive!" Couldn't he hear them? Or had he just blocked it out? A quick glance around made her think that everyone had blocked them out. How could they?

"I-I can't hear anything," Luke replied confusedly, staring up at her from his position on the ground and wondering what had happened to her. "I'm sorry, I was just trying to protect us!"

Kira's temper flickered up again at Luke's words, a vine grabbing him by either wrist. "Listen! I can't be th-the only one to be hearing this!" she shouted hysterically, the vines starting to pull Luke's arms in either direction. She could force him to hear. Then he'd stop. Or she'd end up making him into fertilizer.

"I can't hear anything! Agh, stop this! Please, you're hurting me!" Luke cried out as he began to be pulled apart, looking at Kira pleadingly. His head dropped as he tried to calm down and pull back against the vines, but even though he was strong, it was a futile and pathetic effort against the strength of Kira.

Percy, seeing that the close-quarter combat began, immediately activated the anti-flow field. Now it was up to the others to take care of everything. He would need to focus on maintaining the field as long as necessary.

"Why am I the only one?!" Kira demanded, more of a rhetorical question than anything. Set on tearing Luke apart, she willed the vines to keep pulling, though instead they disappeared. Her Flow was gone.

Heidi roared in frustration as her rampage was stopped by Percy's Flow, resorting to stabbing anyone she could reach with her spear.

Luke collapsed on the ground, breathless, spent, and momentarily helpless from trying to fight against the vines. "Are you alright now?" he ventured hopefully between breaths, looking up at the woman from his position.

Kira shuddered, rather vulnerable without her Flow. The plants had gone silent as well, and that terrified her. Without the plants she was alone! She didn't exactly respond to Luke's question, though the way her eyes were flickering around like a caged animal would probably be more than enough evidence that Kira wasn't okay.

"Hey, hey, walk a bit more over that way," Luke told her weakly, still not moving but tugging at her leg and pointing away from Percival. "It'll be okay, I promise."

Kira eyed Luke suspiciously, though she was desperate. The plants were her friends, who was she if she couldn't hear them? No better than the man who had been burning everything. She walked away from Percy, glad that they had been at the edge of the battle.

Luke watched her go with some relief, looking around him for safety before pulling himself perilously to his feet, stumbling over towards her and out of the zone. His legs were obviously a bit worse for wear after being pulled, though, and he fell back down once he neared her, but at least he was out of the zone.

Kira stood, watching the plants at her feet grow. She could hear them again. She could feel them again. In her happiness, she barely noticed the burning man behind her until he fell over. She squeaked in surprise, jumping away from him.

Nathan's eyes widened in shock at the fact Percival had activated his field. They were in close quarters combat, most of their guns had been destroyed by the metal manipulator earlier and they were outnumbered by more than three to one. Percival had essentially just signed their death warrants. He spun around in an appalled manner and found himself dodging a sword strike. Even without his flow, all the training would have meant he had good reflexes. He managed to block the next sword thrust and spun round into a slash that severed the man's head.

It was then that he heard a gunshot and felt a white sensation shoot straight through his shoulder. He'd been shot with no Instant Regeneration to help him. Growling he threw himself side ways as another bullet was fired. From what he could see their forces wouldn't last long. He saw Carly of his Illuminati fall alongside a few other members and he also saw a few villagers get cut down.

"PERCIVAL, TURN IT OFF!" Nathan roared, hoping to god that the man could hear him. If he didn't turn it off, he would be the reason they died. Already he could feel his arm going dead as his blood leaked out of it.

Because of Percival's field the telekinesis man who Paul had been attacking was soon grinning as Paul's attempted attack failed. Paul no longer had a gun, his flow had been turned off and the man with telekinesis had pulled out a gun. He smirked once and fired three rounds from the pistol straight at Paul.

Tom found himself suddenly unable to sense the psychic who's flow signature had stopped transmitting as soon as Percival had thrown up the field. As it were right now Tom would be starting to lose strength in his flow as Percival's flow got closer and closer to enveloping him as well. If it did fully then the Irish man was probably dead.

Heidi was attacked by three fighters at once, two of them running at her with swords and another slowly pulling a gun from her holster with a sadistic smile on her face.

Over with Kira and Luke they weren't afforded long to rejoice in getting their flow back, a man wielding swords appeared out of their shadows and aimed a slash at Luke. Another man picked up a nearby boulder with super strength and launched it at Kira.

Nathan grimaced as he threw himself behind a bush to avoid another bullet. He saw a few more members of the allied force be killed and clenched his jaw. That was nine that he counted now... the blood of nine people was on Percival's hands.

"TURN IT OFF!" He yelled as he tried to run towards Percival and avoid being shot. Something that was hard enough when you had a bullet hole in one arm.

Despite the many guns being pulled into knots, Paul had always knew he'd run into one one day. Slamming into the ground, he drew a sidearm specially made of plastic. Metal workers and magtetic flows were not uncommon, but plastic was not suitable for automatic weapons. However, every soldier was issued an automatic and a plastic sidearm for backup. They weren't about to be outgunned just yet.

The tank's main gun was still offline, but the machine gun, protected by the flow shield, was still rattling away at any enemy caught alone or away from allies. As well, the main pillbox, situated back from the main lines, was unharmed as well.

Paul shifted his bayonet from his boot, ducking under a sword before unloading a couple rounds into his assailant's stomach. They'd try close quarter's fighting, but he was still the master of war. When Paul saw the condition his special gun was in, his rage flared. The second Percy's Flow came down, heads would start popping. No, he's freeze them solid. No, he'd cook them alive. Or both. At the same time. They pissed off the one person who could not be pissed off.

Meanwhile, Melaney, who had been safely hidden from view, popped up from her foxhole, some of the sole surviving metal guns being in her foxhole. Both hands were blazing away with her dual pistols.

The soldiers in the foxholes knew hand to hand combat well had several had body armor to boot. Their bayonets and back up weapons gllinted in the dying sun as they fought pistol and knife against their foe.

Despite the outnumbered odds(not their first time) the soldiers from Paul's squad were holding their own quite well. Wounds were recieved only through sheer numbers and no matter what the enemy soldiers tried they could not dislodge the constant training that had been forged into the blood of the men and women. Even when they ran out of pistol magazines they held the tide with scavenged weapons from the dead around them. Pretty stupid to throw weapons at the after you broke their initial weapons.

When Percival had heard Nathan call out, he imediately switched off his Flow and the heads started rolling. Any enemy within reach of Paul was brutally and violently thrown aside or crumbled to dust and bones. The amount of Flow radiating off him seemed to course through the air at his opponents. He accidentally stepped on shotgun mine, but instead of it exploding under him, the entire force that would have shot up imploded another man's chest. He picked up a shotgun from the carnaged and let out a savage war cry. He didn't use his Flow for war but they had taken the one thing that had held him down for five years and twisted it to nothing.

Heidi looked around, trying to determine her chances against two swords and a gun...until her Flow turned back on. Looked like Percy had finally regained his common sense. "I hope you've been praying!" she cackled, the crimson glow surrounding her once more as she attempted to stop the blood in their hearts.

Kira didn't take kindly to being attacked, a thick vine lashing out at both the shadow user and the man with super strength. "You're no better!" she hissed, readying herself to counterattack.

Tom had remained calm when he was left stranded deep underground, sitting down cross-legged, regulating his oxygen. He kept his mind open for any let up in the Flow field, and made a reminder to have a word with Percival later. Eventually his chance came, and he kept moving over to where he had last felt the psychic.

Please let it be just a telepath, please let it be just a telepath

He created himself a large cavern in case he was trapped again, leaving himself with plenty of air and a long escape tunnel.

Luke turned up his Flow, superheating the blades in the man's hands as the air around him began to cook, no plants around him to burn. He growled slightly, irritated by the interruption and beginning to push himself up from his position on the ground. He had business to take care of with his girlfriend, these people were small fry compared to that.

As many enemies were thrown back the man with Telekinesis who had been seen earlier smirked and made his way slowly over to Paul. He used his power to rip one Acer Villager in half and continued onward. His name was Julian and it had been the plan all along to have him arrive disguised as a grunt and specifically target Paul, Nathan, Tom or Joey. So far he'd been messing with Paul, if they angered the man enough he wouldn't be able to contain his power, all that would be left would be for the teleporters to teleport Lillian's forces as Paul nuked his own forces. If that avenue didn't work then there were still Nathan and Tom who could be made angry.

He continued onwards and saw a slightly wounded man fighting against some of Lillian's forces. The plastic gun that lay discarded by him signaled him as one of Paul's men and Julian grinned. The man had just defeated someone and didn't see the attack coming. With a practiced ease Julian snapped the man's neck with Telekinesis. He grabbed hold of the now dead man and hurled him at volatile speeds straight at Paul, a smirk occupying his face.

Two of the men who Heidi had been against fell dead relatively quickly but the third had seen sense and had dodged backwards. Her hand cackled with blue fire and in a spinning movement she forced three streams of fire to convene on Heidi's position with the sole purpose of burning her alive.

The two men who were attacking Kira and Luke noting the anger of two grew in confidence as they were attacked. The guy with Super Strength grabbed hold of the that Kira struck out with and ripped it clean in two. He grabbed at a nearby tree and threw it at the nature powered girl with significant force. The guy with the shadows was different in his approach, when Luke produced the fire it created a shadow on the floor, thus enabling the man to dodge away from Luke's attack and slash at him from behind.

Tom found himself right in front of the telepath from earlier, as well as two flow altered beasts. Upon seeing him the telepath was immediately in his head. Much like the man with telekinesis he was one of the higher ups in the attacking force and he was more than adept at getting into people's heads. Immediately he began to try and alter Tom's perception of what he was sensing on the ground.

As Zackary swooped under tree branches, the man who could fire energy beams began shooting down the trees. His eyes glinted as he swept his hand straight at Zackary and an arc of energy flew towards him.

Nathan smirked as he felt his flow return, already his arm was healing and he felt his power surge, he quick activated telepathy and took control of his shooter. With a mere thought Nathan had the shooter turn and shoot five of his comrades. Then having released his mental control Nathan ripped the man into a thousand pieces with some shadows. Turning his attention to the battlefield he used Super Speed to take off in search of the illusionist he had sensed earlier. As he ran he attacked enemy forces, some were electrocuted, others were stabbed by ice and an unlucky few were strangled by their shadows.

Heidi dodged off to the side, glad for her speed. While the woman was distracted with her fancy fire attack, Heidi ran in closer, attempting to freeze her heart before she got burnt. Burns hurt. A lot. Pain wasn't good. Better kill the fire girl.

A wall of vines shot up in front of Kira, acting as a unified force to slam the tree back at her opponent. Blood started dripping down her arm from the vine that had been ripped in half, but she didn't seem to notice, or care.

The wind picked up several branches, sharp, like a psychic was holding them up, before being launched at the beam man, all while Zackary continued to dart around, moving from one location to another. Never staying in one place for more than ten seconds, or even using the same movement pattern.

"Better psychics than you have failed," Tom grunted, gesturing downwards with more difficulty than he had displayed earlier, but still enough to create huge pits underneath the beasts. He then grunted, pulling towards him with his hand and pulling a spear of earth from behind the telepath into their back. Of course, how much of a surprise any of this would be would depend on how well he fared mentally, but Tom was quite well prepared from the years that he had spent with Shima in his brain.

Luke kept heating up, the air beginning to shimmer around him as he did. Pretty much the only thing that had worked almost unfailingly against Nathan was the tactic of superheating the air around of him. This worked as both an extremely effective defence, especially against metal objects, and also as a short-range offense.

Paul stopped the man within inches of himself, transforming the energy into an unstoppable force of energy into an enemy. When he noticed it was another soldier of his, Paul frowned, finding the Flow that had thrown it at him. "Signing one's death warrant isn't smart," he growled, his entire being seeming to flare up, anyone around him instantly noticing his anger. If Paul had his way, the man would have his face stapled to a tree.

The woman who was combating Heidi felt her heart beginning to speed up and sent herself flying up into the air, flames trailing off of her like her rocket. Once she was airborne she focused her streams of fire on Heidi and tried to scorch everything within a fifteen foot area of Heidi. Blue flames cascaded down towards the floor burning everything below.

When the tree was rebounded back towards the man with Super Strength he merely smirked and sent it hurtling towards the air with an uppercut. His lips parted and he laughed before running towards Kira at full speed, his hands clenched into fists. At the same time, the man who was using shadows to attack Luke disappeared from sight completely, leaving Luke alone just heating up the air.

A few seconds passed and then the man returned, only this time he'd brought seven more fighters all cackling with various powers. A few machine guns were raised and bullets were sent hurtling at Luke along with pure white energy beams.

The ground that Tom had just launched impacted with air. The telepath had seemingly already altered Tom's knowledge of what was going on. In all honesty it had been difficult, in fact all he'd been able to do was change his own position in Tom's "sight". It appeared the work Nate and Tom had done in getting rid of Shima had strengthened Tom's mindscape. For almost a second the telepath almost doubted his own ability to break the Irish man. He caught himself and then realized that he'd need a distraction. With a sharp whistle that must have been a prearranged signal, more flow altered beast appeared. And the two badger like ones that Tom had forced under ground had seemingly dug their way up and were barreling at him.

When Zackary launched the branches at the man who was chasing him, he smirked and spun in mid air. Within seconds he'd revealed a third ability and had cloned himself. One man firing energy beams at Zackary had turned into twenty six men all of whom were firing energy beams that obliterated the tree's that Zackary was using as over.

Nathan had been speeding rapidly throughout the battle area when he sensed another flow that appeared to be using a darkness related flow. He flashed his intuitive aptitude eyes in the direction and saw it as just shadow travel, however what he also saw caused him to avert his attention to the shadow traveler. Luke and Kira were out numbered... and probably out matched as things were.

His body blurred and he appeared in front of Luke with a glint in his eye. A wall of darkness formed in front of them to stop the bullets and energy beams whilst a tendril of darkness crept up in front of Kira and pulled her towards both Luke and Nathan.

"You two look like you need a hand."

Julian had noticed Paul coming over and grinned when he saw the man flare up. There was no doubt that Paul was in an elite class of people in the world who were stronger than everyone else, the same class Eithne had been in, the same class that Nathan and Tom were in and also the same class that Julian himself was in. He too flared up with power and created a few telekinetic barriers around him. He was on equal footing with Paul, he just had to be careful and calculating when he attacked, and hell if he saw anyone else Paul cared about then he'd kill them to further push Paul over the edge.

"Funny that..."he said with an evil smirk. "Those very same words have been said about your meager village."

"You must think I'm an idiot," Tom replied, earth rising around him to protect and armour him. He mentally frowned, remaining facially blank. Fool him once, shame on him, but no one was going to fool someone like Tom twice when it came to psychics. But this one was good, and had evidently gotten in his hand already, he had to admit. Now he had a dilemma. Even if he was right about the imaginary attacks, he still had no idea how to locate the psychic, as his 'sight' was still feeding him misinformation. He had no idea where to start, so he took a deep breath and tried to clear his mind.

Luke scowled, beginning to heat up to dangerous levels. Though not for him, he could handle heat, but the enemy would feel their lips going dry as he focused it towards them. Nathan would remember how effective the use of heat rather than fire worked even if nothing else Luke tried had done.

"I was distracted is all," Luke replied, the area around his opponents exploding with heat and flame. He didn't have very many techniques, unlike Nathan, but his main, and indeed only strength was that it was hard to do something about a sudden explosion of flame without the right Flow.

"Wanna know something about your cute little barrier?" Paul glowered, the ground freezing at his feet. Paul put enough energy into the invisible punch, simple kinetic energy unseen by the naked eye, the knock a truck off it's wheels. The air around him was practically suffocating to anyone with Flow and the energy maniplulator threw a charging soldier into the air.
