Soul Eater

"Alright!" Xavier called out as he marched down the hallway to the board for a job to do. "It's time, to find a job! Wait...that made me sound like a hobo...hmmm...Time to...uhmm..." Xavier stopped to tap his chin.

"Time to...do some dirty work? No that sounds like I'm doing something...dirty. I know! Time to find a job to kick some ass!"

Yueria quietly followed after her partner, looking at all the sights as she did so.

Abby tried to poke her head over his shoulder, being too short to see over him and the corridor.

"Anything interesting?" she asked excitedly, trying to see but failing.

Freddie eyed the jobs sleepily.

"Anything catch your eye?" he asked, wondering who would make the decision.

"Hmmm," Xavier said as he continued to go over the jobs. "No, no, no, no, ew, no, no, maybe... Hmmm... What about a murder case? Woman slashed in half?"

"U-uhm...n-none that I can see," Yueria responded to her partner before actually looking over the jobs.

"Yeah, sounds like it could be interesting," Abby replied eagerly, largely desensitised to the nature of their work. Her good mood wasn't too easy to dispel.

"People found dead from blunt force trauma all over New York," Freddie read. "Sound like it's worth a shot?"

Xavier grinned. "Let's do it then! Looks like we're off to...Russia?"

"Sure!" Yueria responded, smiling a little to her partner.

"I've never been," Abby replied happily, thinking of what she'd need to pack.

"Good stuff, I'll get us some flights," Freddie answered, smiling back lazily. Flights weren't hard to get when you were a student at his school. After all, flying out on short notice was practically part of the job description.

"Neither have I! Adventures all round, as they say! Heard it's cold though...so coats are needed! Hmmm..." Xavier thought of what else they would need to pack.

"I'll pack our bags then!" Yueria offered.

James sighed as the flame took, before leaning his seat back, glad that not many people were on their flight this time around.

"I'll give you a hand," Freddie offered. She was probably better at thinking of the utilities they'd need than he was though. He could be scatter-brained.

"Hats, gloves, the whole shebang," Abby gave her contribution.

Calyx was actually quiet for once, glued to the window with wide eyes.

"I can do it in the time it takes you to book the flight," Yueria challenged with a smile.

"Ayup! Heavy pants! Books, manga!" Xavier added on and grinned.

"Well that sounds like a race," Freddie replied, smirking.

Abby was silent for a second, before conceding.

"You win, I can't add anything else," she replied, pouting.

James just smiled at the girl, who was acting like a little kid on their first flight. (Although, he'd never dare say that out loud.)

He just sat back in his seat, and closed his eyes, so as to get some sleep.

"You're on!~" Yueria said with a giggle.

"Hmmm...what else..." Apparently Xavier was still thinking about it. "Can't go wrong with a translation book thingy."

"Alright, on three," Freddie replied. "One...two... three!"

"Now you're just showing off," Abby accused, rolling her eyes. "But yeah, that could be essential."

As soon as he said three, Yueria took off back to their room to get started on packing.

"Showing what off?" Xavier asked, blinking at his partner.

"Knowledge. You're a neeeeeeeeeerd" Abby sang, teasing him by making glasses over her eyes with her hands.

Freddie sprinted down the steps at the front of the school, moving into the tourist office and cursing the fact someone was ahead of him in the line.

Xavier continued to blink. "That's hurtful Abby! I'm hurt! HURT I SAY!" He pretended to pout, and covered his eyes.

"Packing, packing~" Yueria sang as she packed the bags.

Eventually Freddie reached the front of the line.

"Uh, I'm a student at the academy. I need a flight to...where was it? New York," he announced, accidentally putting on a bad New York accent when he said it. The woman at the desk gave him a weird look and they began sorting it out.

Abby poked him in the hands.

"It's alright crybaby, you can come out now," she replied, a more cajoling tone in her voice now.

And by that point, Yueria was finished with her bag, and had moved onto Freddie's...and was a quarter of the way done.

"You're a big meany, ya know that?" Xavier asked as he moved his hands to show he was grinning. "Let's go get that there flight and then pack!"

"Awright," Abby replied gleefully. It had been ages since she'd had a good holiday.

Freddie burst through the door a few minutes later, panting.

"Done!" he wheezed.

Xavier grinned again, and began marching towards the ticket place humming a joyful tune.

Yueria meanwhile, was sitting on both bags, smiling.

"...Fine. I lose," Freddie admitted, shooting her a an over-the-top joking glare.

Abby followed, humming along tunefully and blissful to any looks they got.

Yueria smiled again. "Told you. How long until our flight?" she asked, standing up.

Xavier was humming the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon theme, as they got into line.

"An hour and a half, had to beg her to let us on the earliest one," Freddie replied breathlessly.

"Good game that," Abby noted. She herself didn't own any game consoles, but sometimes she stole Xavier's to play when he wasn't looking.
