Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer Part 4

Luke took the cute comment as another allusion to Nathan, but he was a master of keeping his reactions private. He raised a weary eyebrow at the. name.

"Lucas? Any particular reason?" he asked slowly.

"Ew. That's weird. What, do people vomit babies?" Elena screwed up her face in disgust.

"I-I don't think Amelia s-said...th-though I might h-have missed it...p-p-panic a-att-attack..." Kira replied, her voice getting quiet at the end, before brightening back up. "Why?"

"English wanted it to be named after you." Eithne said from behind Kira and Luke. He was looking pointedly at the Irish adult, a frown evident.

Kira jumped as she heard Eithne behind them, quickly turning towards him, vines curling at her feet. "Pl-Please d-d-don't sn-sneak u-u-up on u-us..." she stammered, though the vines didn't retreat.

"They don't vomit them..." Simon tried to explain (without diving into depth).

"I'm sorry, I don't really want to leave Amelia for long." Eithne said to Kira, his eyes not leaving Luke. "So I moved as quick as I could."

"Sounded...familiar," Luke replied to Kira, not wanting to elaborate beyond what he thought was obvious. When he heard Eithne his jaw clenched.

"Thank you for your contribution, but I wasn't talking to you," Luke grated.

Was that Joey that Mr. Eithne had brought with him? Victoria had wondered to herself, having noticed him. During the whole event, she made sure that she had stayed away from, well, the main area, to make sure she didn't get in the way...or go crazy...

"Then what, do they just randomly materialize? That'd be cool," Elena frowned.

"No. But I felt you should know." Eithne responded to the guy he'd known as a loud-mouthed generally nice teen. "Because somewhere wrapped up in all your bitterness and hate, there is a part of you that wants to believe English has changed in the five years."

"I don't need your opinion of me, Scotty, Luke grunted back, leaning heavily on his stick. He had changed a lot from the nice person of the tournament.

Kira's frown deepened as she watched the rather passive-agressive quarrel between Luke and Eithne. "Ei-Eithne...m-maybe y-you should l-leave..." she suggested quietly.

"Just wanted to voice my opinion." Eithne responded with a shrug before gathering kinetic energy around him. "And to say to Kira she's welcome in the village anytime, Amelia wants to thank her properly once she's well enough." With that he disappeared and shot away.

"Like I said, I don't need it," Luke growled before Eithne moved away. He needed time to think, and Luke was always at his most aggressive when confused.

Kira moved closer to Luke, taking his hand. "It's g-good to keep an open m-mind..." she told him, trying to calm him down.

"God that was so fucking loud," Neo grumbled as he moved around in the town. He now had a headache...

"N-no..." Simon replied.

"Then where do they come from?" Elena frowned, not understanding at all.

"They come from... the Mother's... uhhhh..." Simon continued.

"I know," Luke replied, a little snappish than he'd intended. "Oh, I'm sorry, just a little... confused."

"Spit it out!" Elena scowled. Simon was so slow!

"It's o-okay. I'm sure y-you'll figure everything o-out," Kira smiled. "Just give i-it time."

"Thanks," Luke replied, thinking he needed isolation to think, though to get to the hills, where he usually went, he'd have to walk through the village.

Simon's face turned very red, grabbing Elena's shoulder's and pulling her to him so he mumbled the answer in her ear.

Elena's face turned red as well, pulling away from Simon and turning away. "...Ow..." she mumbled, shuddering.

"Yeah." Simon agreed, not wanting to think about it anymore.
