"Thank you, I'll be sure to." Emirayha said, with a gentle smile. She stared at the cheesecake hungrily until a spider took the first bite. Her natural frown then reappeared. "Nice place you got here, discover anything new about the reapers?"

"A little bit," Kleis said, pulling up a document on the laptop. "The Reapers started to appear about two months ago, so I looked for things that happened then." The document listed several headlines that happened a few months ago; Emirayha may have heard of them.

"They may not be the cause, but they might be related to it," Kleis said, getting a slice of cheesecake. "Help yourself."

"Thank you." Emirayha said, taking a bite of the cheescake. "What odd occurrances.... perhaps the reapers were born as a result of misfortune? Or maybe they were already here and caused these catastrophes, possessing innocent souls and stealing others." Emirayha began to stare into space as if she was having a flashback, but quickly came back to her senses.

"Maybe," Kleis said, closing the laptop. "We'll have go and find out ourselves. Where should we start...?"

"I'm eager to. Let's go~!" Emirayha said enthusiastically.

Kleis nodded in agreement. "We can start at the collapsed building. I believe that the first floor and the basement are still intact."

"Ok, sounds good. Right behind you, I'll go whenever you're ready." Emirayha said.

Kleis nodded and picked up a small satchel before heading out of the little cottage. She waited for Emirayha to follow, then closed the door behind her. She drew a little scribble on it with her finger before heading out.

"What is that scribble on the door? Is it a magical seal to protect your home from potential outside hazards and creepers?" Emirayha said as she followed Kleis into the forest.

"Yeah. My sister taught it to me. She was a very powerful Mage," Kleis said. The sun was beginning to set, but it was already very dark in the forest. Fireflies illuminated the path, guiding them through the labyrinth. "The room we were just in is not from this dimension. The seal makes it so that Normals stay in the 'real' world in stead of crossing over."

"Aah, very clever." Emirayha said, uttering a slight smile as she began to wonder where Kleis's sister was and how she herself could improve her own magic. She felt herself blanking out staring into the beauty of the forest and daydreaming about the many realms beyond her current one, but Emirayha quickly came to her senses and asked, "So what's the other side like?"

"It's really just a giant void. But you can make whatever you want in there," Kleis said, shrugging. They have walked through the forest's barriers, and now were on the main road. "Shouldn't be too far, now."

Emirayha began imagining the endless possibilities. Just one thought could start a revolution..... She anxiously followed Kleis, incredibly curious about the mysteries that could await.

They eventually made to where the building once stood, although only parts of the first floor and the basement left. Even though it's been a couple of months since the building fell, they have shown no signs of interest in rebuilding; in fact, the only thing that they really did was close the area off with a barbed-wire fence. Kleis reached into her satchel, pulled out of pair of dikes, and began to cut away at the fence.

Emirayha stared in awe at the building as she and Kleis imperceptibly formed a rift in the barbed wire fence. It was such an aberration that something decrepit but otherwise normal could penetrate her normally callous heart. This place just gave off such a bizarre aura; it made Emirayha highly uncomfortable but was also sort of cathartic at the same time. It implored to be delved in for the answers to life's mysteries yet chastised those who considered trying to do so with its caustic grudge of abandonment, that was as trenchant as the barbed wire that encumbered it. Emirayha almost felt empathetic for the fallen structure but was still ambivalent on just where her feelings stood. Thinking too much about it was becoming too disorienting and Emirayha was beginning to develop an animosity for the feeling, so she cajoled herself into hiding in her own mental cache and acting aloof to the cacophony that grew incorrigibly outside of her "happy place." She then continued to diligently chip away at the fence with Kleis.

With Emirayha's help, Kleis managed to create a hole in the fence large enough for them to crawl through. The soil around the fallen building was very soft and loose; just walking at a normal pace would create a trail of dust clouds. Said clouds also revealed many craters in the ground. "Careful."
She began to edge closer to what was left of the building, before raising a hand, signalling them to stop. She could hear what sounded like a little girl moaning and crying in pain and agony. The sound made her sick in her stomach. "Hear that?"

Emirayha and Kleis slowly crawled through the rift in the fence. Emirayha began to regret wearing her long gothic skirt just then, but she thought that if this could facilitate the troubles of who someone needs help, then so be it. They had already arrived anyway, and injuries to the heart can't always be cleaned as easily as laundry. The ground was analogous to Emirayha's state of mind too. It was so unstable and fragile that Emirayha couldn't help but stir up dust with every slight movement. She sapiently heeded Kleis's warning to be extra cautious. Suddenly, Kleis stopped, so Emirayha looked at her to see what was wrong. But before she could say anything, she heard it. A familiar moan. One of agony.
"Hear that?" Kleis said.
"..... Yes. We'd better see what's going on....." Emirayha replied, whispering. "But how should we do this? If we burst over there too hastily, then we could become victims too. Do you think there's a way to surreptitiously sneak over there and peer around the corner? I'll follow your lead."

"Gimme a sec," Kleis said, clasping her hands together as if she was praying. She focused on what was left of the building, searching for specimens she can work with. Perfect, spiders.
Her eyes gave off an orange glow as she possessed the little brown recluse spider. It took her about seven or so minutes to search the basement.
"Nothing here-"
Kleis suddenly rolled over in pain, holding her stomach. It felt like her body was burning. Something must have got that spider.

Emirayha sat still, observing Kleis. She couldn't tell what Kleis was trying when she clasped her hands together, but she knew that it was magical. When she saw a spider moving not far away, she figured it out. "Great idea~!" Emirayha exclaimed. It was, but soon Kleis too was rolling over in pain. "Merging with and possessing other tiny beings seems pretty cool, but I guess it also has its cons." Hmm.... what now?

Kleis nodded and pulled herself up, clutching her stomach. It was really dark now, so she really couldn't see the building in front of her. Only her ears could guide her now, and the crying was getting louder...
She could see a faint red glow emanating from inside the building. Kleis couldn't see it, but Emirayha probably could see the little girl on the floor, crying. She was extremely pale with dark blonde hair that completely covered her face. Her fingers were unusually long; they were about as long as her forearm. She didn't appear to notice the two Mages.

"I'll try using my mind." Emirayha said, as the wailing grew louder. She used her ESP to sense the energy and form of the life inside the building by pressing her fingertips gently on the sides of her head and focusing. Whispering, Emirayha says, "I see a young woman. That's who is crying. She is so odd.... I mean, even compared to me she has pale skin and a lot of long hair covering her face. Now that's saying something. And her fingers..... I've never witnessed any so long. She's seems nonhuman. We'd better watch out for her..... I haven't gotten any mental signals back saying that we've been noticed, so we're still safe for now."

"She might be a Reaper..." Kleis muttered, frowning. "I don't think there's any way to go around her." If they got too close to her, she might attack, but Kleis still wanted to look around the building. She really wanted to get to the bottom of this.

Kleis nodded and closed her eyes, possessing a nearby fruit fly. However, the buzzing of the fly startled the Reaper, who lifted her head in surprised and lunged forward at the two Mages. (31%-45%) The ground began to shake beneath them, covering the area in a large dust cloud.
Kleis backed away in pain, as the Reaper's attack hit her head-on. She quickly transformed into her Mage form and pulled out her sword. Her wings began to vibrate as the blew dust away from her, clearing a five-foot radius around her. She couldn't fly too high up; no, her wings weren't strong enough.
She could sense something moving under the ground. A giant worm...?
