Cinematic Record (Blossoming)

What you are searching for may be closer than you think.

Attached to every being’s soul is something called a “Cinematic Record”. That is, a record of every memory, every action done and word spoken, of that particular person. A book of memories, one might say. Every person fills up their Cinematic Record, and, when they pass, they are judged by the contents of the book and are allowed to pass into the Afterlife, where they may continue filling out their Record.

But sometimes, the Record is incomplete. When one passes and their Cinematic Record is missing parts, they are doomed to be trapped into the Void until they can fill those torn pages. Time does not move in the Void: no pages of the Record cannot be filled while trapped there. Most Void residents have nothing to do but watch what they have of their Cinematic Record over and over again, forever living in the past with no hope for a future.

But some of the residents are much more violent. The Reapers, as they are called, finish their Records simply by stealing pages from other residents of the Void. The leave the Void with their patched book and pass on into the Afterlife with someone else’s precious memories. It sometimes comes to the point where many Reaper victims lose their Records completely and become nothing but empty shells.

And then there are the few who hold onto their final page…

So, yeah. Character are gonna be Void characters who’s Cinematic Records were severely damaged by Reapers, probably to the point that they don’t remember who they are or what time period they are from, and they are trying to recover the pages back before the Reapers pass on with them. So, yeah. Interest?

Also, characters can be from different time period, so you can have someone from 90s America while someone else can have someone from late 18th century France. (cough no one take Charlotte Corday cough)
