Proper Way to Opening a Banana

This has been on my mind for a while, and it all started years ago when I saw my friend opening a banana from the bottom. I thought this was pretty odd, as I usually open it from the stem. I asked him about it and he says it's the "easier way" and that "That's how monkeys do it". I thought "Well monkeys eat insects off other monkey's heads too... Do you?" But I didn't really say that as it didn't relate to the subject at hand.
Anyhow, I tried his method but I just ended up with a half-squashed banana. I wondered if I was doing it wrong. I could possibly, but taken the squashiness aside, it was easier.
Then I found another method of opening a banana. Straight through the middle. This is usually done in cooking, but I sometimes do this method when I'm lazy. It's easier than the stem method and didn't give me a squashed piece of... - like the bottom method.

So I ask you of this, Magnolia Roleplays, how do you open your banana? What do you think is the proper way to opening one? And am I doing the second method wrong?

Anyway, being raised by Filipinos and the all-knowing tarsiers, I always open bananas like a monkey. ^_^ If I open it by the stem, it gets all mushed.

Via the stem. I don't see how it could be easier than that. And thats the only way I have seen it done.

Hate to post again but I tried opening via the bottom and it is the best thing ever.
