Reaching Salvation: Post-Acer Part 5

"Alrighty then," Tom replied, opening up the earth in front of them and bringing it out to the area he felt the least footsteps in.

Heidi shot another glare at Nathan, before moving towards Tom and the tunnel, and heading down it.

Nathan rolled his eyes before turning his back on them.

"Fuck that, I've got my own problems to deal with without having to watch you act like a twelve year old and sneak around a village to check on people." With that he continued walking away. He could probably alert the entire village if he released his flow, not that he was going to.

Heidi clenched her fists angrily, shaking, trying to control her Flow and not give into it. Why did he have to be such a dick?

"Don't mind him," Tom murmured, moving into the tunnel stoicly.

"Okay..." Heidi sighed, quietly in reply, not wanting to raise her voice too much in case she disturbed the village.

They crept under the defenses, Tom raising a hand to check for footsteps pattering on the ground above them. He lead Heidi to a quiet spot behind a building, opening up a small hole silently.

Heidi carefully climbed out, looking around, before gesturing for Tom to follow. Behind the wall was a village much more civilized than the one of the Acer survivors, almost Greek or Roman in appearance.

Erika stood up when she heard the rumbles. Someone's coming, friend or foe? Or does it even matter?

Joey took control back, feeling the rumbles. "Damnit...what now?!"

Adeline frowned, hearing the rumbles. This can't be good...

Elena started to try and shake Simon, wondering why he was so unresponsive. Was he sick? She wanted to know if they should go hide!

"Mmmm..." Simon groaned, opening his eyes. "Elena, what is it...?"

"C'mon, Simon, the shaking even woke me up!" Elena groaned in disappointment. "What do we do about it?"

"Let's go outside and check out what's happening." Simon suggested, frowning at the groan.

"But what if it's an earthquake and the ground cracks in half and swallows us?" Elena asked, glancing at the door nervously.

Zackary made his way down to the village, in his Calm Persona. He moved around the wall, glancing outwards to see what might be causing the rumbles.

"Then we'll look out the widnow first to see if it's safe." The black-haired boy replied.

Elena ran over to the window, peeking out. "It doesn't look dangerous..."

"Then come on." Simonw alked to the door, but made sure before he went out that Heidi's knife was hooked in his pants.

"Wah, be careful!" Elena cried out, though she followed Simon nonetheless, holding onto his arm.

Zackary went round to the gate, glancing around before leaning against it. His Flow was weaker than his real power...so no one would reconise him unless they knew it...

Once again the thunder, except now it was definitely close, just over the horizon. In the distance, half of a mountain collapsed...

"Well, that makes things interesting," Zackary muttered to himself, seeing the mountain collapse.

Kira froze, finally hearing the rumbling. She ducked her head down, covering it with her hands. She was shuddering, afraid that the helicopter from before had come back to bomb everyone.
