The Overlord's Court

Magnus pushed the tip of his sword up against the back of the noble's neck, a cold expression on his face.

The man flinched as he felt the blade press into his skin. Lucrezia looked up at Magnus with wide green eyes.

"G-general Russel..." The noble stuttered.

"Is there a problem here?" Sir Zerez stepped around the corner, a hand on one of his swords
"I heard a scream."

"That's Field Marshal Russell," Magnus corrected stonily. He didn't look like he cared about the man's life.

"Silly me, I fell while I was walking to pay my respects." Lucrezia said, before turning to Zerez. "Sir, would you please escort Bishop Rothbart to my Lord Brother, he has a meeting with him this morning and I would be terribly distraught for him to be late on my account."

"Field Marshal, shall we continue to the cemetary?" Lucrezia said to Magnus.

"Yes Sir Zerez, be careful he doesn't escape," Magnus replied coldly, before nodding respectfully to the princess. "Of course, Milady."

"Oh, Sir. I will be sure he won't." The knight said, drawing one of his swords and grabbing the man's sleeve. "Do come along now. You would not want to be late."

Kyruna yawned as she turned around the corner to see the small group. She blinked, looking at each and every one of them...before turning and heading back down the corridor she came from.

The Bishop gulped silently but tried to stand tall as he walked over to Zerez, however all that changed once he caught a glimpse of the man's face again, excreting buckets of sweat.

Lucrezia moved to walk beside Magnus, casually moving hr hair in a style that would hide a good portion of the tears.

"Move anywhere I do no ttell you to move, and my sword will run you through faster than you can say mother. Do I make myself clear?" The knight asked, proding him with the sword's tip.

"There aren't many people at the castle graveyard at this time," Magnus spoke gently, though he appreciated that moving her hair was a smart move.

"That's why I like to come here at this time. It's... peaceful." Lucrezia replied.

Bishop Rothbart seemed to have gathered what little bravery (or haughtiness) he had left and sneered. "I don't take orders from lower status swine."

"I'm a little earlier than usual this morning," Magnus admitted, not wanting to admit his inability to sleep. "Just as well."

At his words, Zerez's sword slashed against his leg. "Funny, I am not so friendly to rapists. Move, or I sever your leg."

The girl nodded as they continued to walk to the graveyard. "Pardon me if I sound rude, but... who are you visiting?"

Rothbart squealed in pain, falling to the ground. "T-this is a mistake..."

Zerez hauled the man to his feet, and shoved him forwards. "Move. Or I keep my threat and deliver a Bishop with one leg."

"My son," Magnus replied quietly.

The man bowed his head and walked.

Lucrezia looked solemn as she bowed her head. "How old was he?"

"Eighteen," Magnus replied.

The knight kept his sword on the back of his neck. If it had been his sister, this man would not have lived to see the Overlord.

Lucrezia lightly touched Magnus's wrist, before lettting go. "The world is cruel to take one so young."

"Such is the nature of war," Magnus replied solemnly, not wanting to sound as unpatriotic as he felt.

Lucrezia nodded. They had reached the gates of the graveyard. Most were servants graves among knights and decorated soldiers who had no family graves to return to. A little ways off the graves became more grand for high noblemen and Overlord's past.

Magnus' son was buried in his family plot, near the knight graves.

Zerez knocked on the door he assumed to Overlord would be in, and waited.

"Do not move an inch," the knight warned.

Lucrezia walked over to the Overlord's graves, but instead of heading to Overlord Nathan's she went to a smaller gravestone, one for the late Overlord's consorts. On it said the name "Ophelia".
