SHOT in the Back

Andrea looked a Karl for a couple more moments before turning back to watch Max play with the pots and pans. Whenever your a child the world seems like such a simple place, a small world where there is only good and evil, and good always wins.

The woman leaned against on of the kitchen counters. When was it when I stopped thinking that? It's so hard to remember...

"I miss being a kid," Karl sighed again, and truth be told he wasn't lying. He wanted to still be a kid. But alas...time eats away at all.

"I find it funny, kind of. When we're kids we always want to grow up, until we realize what being adult means. Then once we get older we always wish to be kids again." Andrea chuckled.

"I miss it," Karl sighed, and then chuckled. "It's because we wanted people to think better of us than they did...now we don't want the responsibility." he added on, "I don't ever want to grow up..."

Andrea sighed. "That's not how the world works. Sooner or later we all have to grow up."

"But what about Peter Pan?" Max asked.

"Uh...heh..." Karl started to scratch his head. "Want to take this one?" He asked Andrea, rubbing the back of his head after scratching it. This was...well...a complicated question.

"Uhh, well Maxie..." Andrea kneeled down so she was at eye level with her son. "Everyone in the world has to grow up some day... accept for one little boy..." She recited, before tapping her finger on the boy's nose.

I'll deal with that one after he figures out Santa isn't real. She thought.

Problem of that solved... Karl thought with a slight chuckle at that. At least she had that. But overall...He got back into worrying about what would happen in the future.

"And Tinkerbell is too!" Max added on cheerfully, putting down the ladle to clap his hands.

"Huh? Oh, your clapping your hands to show you believe." Andrea smiled, before she started clapping as well.

Karl smiled, and began lightly clapping, why not? it wasnt that bad of a idea, and it also amused the kid. That was something important

Max laughed happily as he clapped. "I believe in fairies!"

Andrea smiled as she continued to clap. Never stop, Maxie. Never stop believing...

Karl smile grew bigger as he clapped, watching Max. He was glad to see that the world hadn't changed that much in some regards. "And never forget...they're always around us."

Max nodded solemnly staring at Karl with a determined face. "Right."

"Good kid," He smiled again, moving over to start cleaning up the pans. "Let's clean up now, alright?

Max jumped, looking around as if just noticing how big a mess he made. "Ohhh. Okay."

He also started to pick up the pots and pans and walked them back to the lower shelves.

Karl smiled, and got more onto a higher shelf. He glanced back at Andrea, and smiled at her.

Andrea smiled back, before a smirk appeared on her face. "I'll the two men to do the dirty work then~"

"I'm starting to plan dinner already." Karl said to her with a smile of his own. "It'll be gooooodddd..."

Andrea paused from walking out, turning back to Karl with her eyes narrowed.

"...What dish?"

"Oh, I don't know yet?" Karl answered with a smile. Oh it would still be fun. "And you're helping me." he added on, giving a slight wink.

Caesar followed after the girl, his arms aching a little themselves, due to all the groceries he was carrying. He understood the boy wanted to see his nephew, but that arrogant and overall unlikable attitude he had, wasn't about to get him anywhere.

Andrea scrunched her face up in a pout, a definite 'I don't trust this' look.

"Can I help?" Max asked.

"Of course," Karl said, patting Max on the head and chuckled. "Of course you can," he added on, and then glanced up at Andrea. "Family cooking.

Cheater. Andrea gave a small sigh, before heading back into the kitchen. "Okay. Now we just have to wait for 'Lotta to get back..."

"Yeah we do." Karl smiled, and sat back onto the counter. "We'll all have fun, won't we?" He mainly was glancing at Andrea's location.
