"Solanum" -Our Struggle

"Kyllä," Tuula squeaked out, meaning "yes."

"Good, stay behind me," Skylar switched back to English.

Tuula nodded, whimpering an "okay." At least Skylar could understand her.

"How much further?" Skylar called out to the people in front of him.

Tuula cried out as a zombie got close enough to grab her arm. "Skylar!" she called, trying to yank her arm away from the zombie before it could bite her.

Whack. One tonfa slammed onto the zombie's arm, then he drove his second one into it's skull.
"You alright?" Skylar asked, eyeing the zombie just in case.

"Tuula!" Mari yelled bashing at one of the zombies with her bat.

Tuula darted back towards the group, trembling. She wanted to go home. She started babbling quietly to herself in Finnish, about how she just wanted to go home and didn't want to die.

"We should be almost to the parking lot. Have your keys?" Mari asked Joseph.

Joseph nodded to Mari, ready to start driving his van.

"Lets hurry up Herbivores!" Skylar called out.

Tuula followed closely behind Skylar; where ever he was going, she was going.

"Herbivores, which way!" Skylar called out to those in front. He didn't like the fact that they were out in the open. Or working with them.

Mari did what Skylar asked and moved forward, they were now heading towards the ground floor.

Usually, while going down the stairs, Skylar would have just slid down the railing. But that wouldn't help the group yet. So he just waited for them to hurry their pace.

After they reached the first landing though Mari raised her hand up in a 'stop'.

"What?" Skylar hissed, readying his tonfas just in case.

Mari pointed down to the hoard of undead waiting at the bottom.

"Oh, are you fucking kidding me?" Skylar sighed, tempted to smack his forehead. "They're attracted to sound, right?"

Mari nodded. "Wanna throw something?"

"Hold these," Skylar said, shoving his tonfas at the girl. He then pulled off his book bag, and tossed it as far as he could. The books inside making a loud thud.

Mari had to hold her baseball bat with her thighs as the tonfas were shoved into her hands.

The corpses perked up at the sound and started heading towards it.

Skylar took back his tonfa, and then muttered to himself. "Now I have to carry them."

Tuula flinched when the book bag hit the ground. She was half expecting the zombies to come up the stairs anyway. Even once they were gone, she held her breath, afraid that any noise she made would attract them.

Mari put her bat back in it's proper place in her hands. "Let's go."
