Ascendency: a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon RP

The cart rolled slowly uphill, most of the new recruits beginning to get claustrophobic and bored in their vehicle. Finally it stopped, the thick canvas blocking the cart's exit being thrust open to reveal their destination. They were on a plateau at a high enough altitude, though it was impossible to tell how high up due to the fog surrounding the plateau. About a hundred yards in front of them was their new home. 

The grumpy Charizard that had escorted then and the friendly Ampharos that had recruited them moved forwards, and with the final obstacle gone, the recruits were free to see the guild. It was tall, three stories tall at least and made of white stone. The ground floor sprawled out into corridors and wings, ending in towers where one could occasionally see lights flickering.

Bridges and arches dotted the architecture, and it all led toward the central building, a huge bastion with large wooden double doors at the end of a long passage kept contained by high smooth walls. They were shepherded forward in silence, a few heads visible over the walls looking at the new recruits. They were moved away from the main gateway, shunted to the left, through a small door and out into one of the many wings, where they had a large yard surrounded by wall and a wide two-storey barracks. Three figures stood there, visible as a Dewott, a Flygon, and a Nidoqueen as they got closer.

Apollo stood in attention at the three, figuring they were the ones who were going to teach them.

He was really excited to be joining the guild, and he wanted to make a good impression.

Ziggy was running back and forth in front of the gate, stopping for a few seconds to change direction, before speeding over to the other side of the gate.

Kell stopped to stare at the weird Pokemon running back and forth, before being herded into line. The Dewott stepped forward, but he remained silent until everyone was ready.

"How very droll," Arashi mumbled to himself, stepping out of the cart and folding his arms as he glanced around.

Yuki hummed to herself, jumping out of the cart and moving up.

Ukashka poked her head out the gate, watching the new recruits with interest. Most of her fur was blackened from her most recent accident with fire.

The Dewott waited until everyone was in the walled yard, when he closed the small door in.

"Howdy. I know you're probably all eager to see your rooms and room-mates after that long journey, but just bear with me for a second. My name's Azel, and I am basically Dad, or God, for the first while of your apprenticeship. I am responsible for you. And this is my lovely assistant, your Goddess Venus," Azel replied, pointing towards the door. Oh damn, he'd forgot what he was meant to say.

A lone Lopunny walked out from the door, and up beside Azel. "A Goddess, huh?" Venus said whispered to Azel with a grin. "I'm quite honored, I must say."

She looked toward the new recruits with a warm smile. "Hello everyone, I'm Venus, and I'll be one of the ones watching over you, during your apprenticeship." She said. "I look forward to getting to know all of you."

"I-it was just a-kinda slipped out, after the God thing," Azel mumbled back, glad that the fog would stop the recruits from seeing his blush even of Venus could still see it.

"For at least half of your apprenticeship, we will be watching over you, taking care of your rewards, funds, and supplies. This here is your barracks, where you sleep in rooms of three. Go pick your rooms, but be aware: room mates are NOT team mates. You have today and tomorrow of resting and learning before you get your first preliminary mission. Any questions before I move onto the rules?"

"Boring," Arashi grumbled and yawned. "Can we do stuff solo?" He asked aloud.

"At your level? No. At full member level, it depends. On an easy enough mission, yeah, on a mission ranked B or higher or anything east of these mountains, into the wilderness, you have to go with a team-mate, no matter who you are," Azel recited, remembering his own days.

"How lame." Arashi said with a blank face. "We really have to work as a team? How on earth are we supposed to get stronger?"

"Well being in a team prevents you from dying. On tough missions and the first mission you have, you'll get a pair of supervisors following you. One such pair being me and Venus, others being experienced guild members," Azel recited, he knew this stuff. "There are training facilities, and you can never rely entirely on your team mate to save you, unless I guess you've known them for years."

Venus had just giggled at Azel's explanation and blushing, before going silent as the recruits began asking questions.

Apollo nodded at the explanation, excited for what lied ahead of him.

"How very droll." Arashi said point blank.

Yuki yawned and shrugged.

Ukashka exited the building, careful not to get barreled over by Ziggy in the process, to get a better look at the other recruits. She supposed she'd get filed in with this group at some point...

Azel's usually blue cheeks blushed even more at the sound of Venus giggling at him. Oh, he was no good with her. He wasn't good with any woman, but Venus seemed to be particularly good at making him flustered. Not that it was hard.

"Anything else, or will I go over the rules and show you to your rooms?" the Dewott asked.

"Azel, do I have to change rooms?" Ukashka spoke up, having managed to blend into the group of recruits.

"Only if you wanna get to know your team-mates better," Azel replied with a shrug. She was a special case, and Azel hadn't bothered to learn protocol. "I guess it's up to you."

"...I'll stay in my room, then. No point in blowing up two rooms, y'know?" Ukashka shrugged, stretching and shaking some of the black out of her red fur.

"Do we have to have roommates?" Arashi then asked with a drawn out sigh.

"Okay, and yes," Azel replied to Ukashka with a nod and then to Arashi with a raised eyebrow. "You're lucky, you might be two to a room this year."

"This blows," Arashi grumbled and folded his arms.

"Is it gender seperated?" Yuki asked.

"As far as is possible. In my year, for example, we had an imbalance so it didn't work out," Azel explained.

"When do we start training?" Apollo asked.
