Runic

"Fine." Sam said finally, not amused in the slightest. She hated the hospital. Too clean, too creepy, too depressing. Disease and death. That's all hospitals were for. You can't be bright and cheery and willing to go there. It was impossible.

Andrew followed the group back to the hospital. He looked at the teens anxiously, feeling as if someone was missing. "...Hey, Kaizo. Where's your bro-"

A barrier formed in front of the man, separating him from the group. Kaizo sighed and stuffed the red orb deep inside his pocket.

Soon the group made it back to the hospital. Sam needed a lot of help from James to make sure she didn't pass out or fall over. She really needed Tylenol. Upon their arrival, Sam sat down in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs and sent one of the boys up to go negotiate with the receptionist. "Tell them I refuse to stay, and if the police want to talk to me or send a social worker after me, tell them they can send it to Wayne's apartment. I'm not dealing with my mom. I want the discharge papers, and tell them you'll keep an eye on me. Get pissy if you have to, I don't care, just do it." she said, leaning back against the wall and closing her eyes.

James sighed, before going up to do just that.

The receptionist was trying her best to convince James to let Sam stay, but finally she paged a doctor to come and give his opinion.

"As much as we'd like to keep her overnight, as long as you promise to wake her up every hour if she goes to sleep tonight, I'd be willing to let her go. But we need someone who is over the age of 18 to sign the forms, given her current situation. We're not letting her back into the care of her mother and father, however the mother may prove to be a different case. Is there someone with you who could fill these out?" the doctor asked, picking up a clipboard from the desk with some forms on it and setting it on the counter.

"Wayne!" James called to the boy.

Wayne had walked back to the hospital in silence and had sat next to Sam in silence. When his name was called Wayne walked up and signed the discharge papers along with several other legal forms. He told the receptionist to send the bill to his apartment and he would take care of everything. The doctor had a word with him too telling him about how he should be taking care of Sam. The whole thing wasn't that bad really and he walked back to Sam and offered her his hand. "You are now my legal charge for the time being. Let's get back to my home."

Sam smiled. "Did you get my clothes? This thing is uncomfortable. And I miss underwear." She said, laughing a little. When it became apparent he did not, she went back to the doctor and asked for them. A nurse ran back to her room, retrieved them, and directed her to a bathroom she could change in. After a few minutes, she came out looking refreshed and a bit happier. "Alright. Let's go. I'm tempted to run back to my mom's house and grab some clothes. Knowing her, she threw out my dad." She shrugged. "Can we?" She asked.

"Well, that's settled," Kaizo muttered, standing up. "Sorry, but I gotta head out now. Need to check on someone." His eyes scanned the group, before resting on James and Isabella. He could feel his Runes reacting to their presence, like they wanted to just jump off his skin and strangle them.

Isabella felt his gaze and quickly looked away, scratching the Rune on her forehead.

Sam looked at Kaizo almost sadly. "Will we see you again?" she asked. "If so, I'll probably be at Wayne's. You know that. But, yeah. You still should stick around town." she said, and hugged him tightly. Kaizo made her life interesting, and saved it multiple times. "I owe you anyway. You saved my life. Multiple times." she added.

James starred right back at him, a defiant look in his eyes, saying that he was not afraid, and would fight for his right to live. He then turned back to Sam, still concerned for the girl.

Kaizo flinched when he was hugged, he wasn't very used to physical contact. He frowned and shook it off. "Don't worry, I'll still be here. My...friend lives in the area, and I need to pass a message off to her." He shrugged. "Plus, there's a lot of Runics in this area. Might be a while 'till I can actually leave."

"Great. You're good to have around, you know?" she laughed, letting him go. "Okay, have fun with your friend." Sam added as much emphasis as he did on the word, and winked teasingly. She may be wrong, but she thought he was hinting he had a girlfriend he wanted to go sleep with or something.

Kaizo rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Seeya." He headed towards the exit, but suddenly stopped when he saw a small girl on a stretcher being pushed to the emergency room. The poor girl had several bite and scratch marks all over her body, but Kaizo couldn't help but notice the strange yet familiar blue mark on her leg. He sighed, shook his head, and headed out.

"Let's just get out of here Sam, everyone else can come with us if they want," Wayne opened the hospital door and motioned for Sam to follow him. He really needed to talk to Sam in private but he could wait if he had to. He had a secret like she did and with the events of today he had decided he should be more prepared and let at least one person know his true past.

Sam nodded with a sigh as she left the building. She was exhausted and needed sleep. Not unconscious sleep that was unwilling, but legitimate sleep. Her skin was white with the excitememt and she felt almost sick. But that was a familiar side effect, and one she wasn't going to make Wayne worry about.

James followed after them, still concerned about Sam's well being. Later, he would need to talk to her about something. After today's events, he felt like he understood her a little better.

Wayne walked back to his apartment in silence as he was deciding exactly how he should go about this new idea of revealing some of his darker past. He walked up to the door and unlocked it, leaving it open as he entered. "Lock the door behind you and take what you want, you already know where everything is and I'm going shopping later. Knock on my door if you need me because it'll be locked." And with that Wayne walked into his room and took a deep breath and he shut and locked the door behind him. He took out his knife and walked over to the wall behind his bed. There was a small slot I. The wall that one wouldn't find unless the knew what to look for and inserted the knife blade into it. The hidden wall panel popped forward and slid down revealing an array of guns and ammo and various attachments. "Time to get to work I guess," he said as grabbed a rifle and began to disassemble it.

Sam noticed he seemed a little more mysterious now, and nodded at his instructions. Cookies were calling her name. At the sound of the door click, she went over to the jar and began munching on them. Finallly she just gave up and brought the whole damn thing to the couch and turned on the TV to the movie they watched last night. Wayne probably was looking at his porn or something. Gross.

"Uh hey, can I talk to you?" James asked nervously, walking over to the girl, and taking a seat nearby.

Isabella also followed after them. No one had even explained the whole Runic thing yet to her, so she was still really confused. She sat on the other side of the room, away from Sam and James, and studied the locket that George gave her. She tried opening it, but it appeared to be locked. Great...

Wayne sat around in his room and cleaned the rifle trying to think about how he should go about this. The situation had exploded far beyond his nightmares and he could only guess things were going to get worse. "Crap," he whispered exasperated about his current situation. As long as Kaizo wasn't here he could probably keep everyone else calm enough. He grabbed a bigger rifle, obviously a sniper rifle, and disassembled it for cleaning too.

Sam looked at James and nodded. "Yeah, what's up?" she asked. She seemed tired, and was leaning on the arm of the couch. She ended up pausing the movie so she could listen more intently but felt bad for Isabella. She still had no idea what was going on, poor thing. She decided she'd talk to the girl when James was done.

"My situation is a little similar to yours...only there's a slight difference." James said with a sigh. "Honestly, my conception was caused through a failed condom, my mom once told me I was a 'mistake'..."

"They never really wanted me, they took care of me for the first couple of years, but as I got older, they began to leave me alone, I had to learn to take care of myself, while they focused all their attention on work." He went on. "They probably haven't noticed I've been gone the past two days."

"...And here I am, going on about myself, when you just got back from going through all that." He said, mentally berating himself. "Really...I just wanted to say was...that while our situations are a lot different, I think I understand a little of what it's like, and...I'm sorry, this is stupid, isn't it?"

"I'm sorry." she said. She wasn't sure what to say. He was a mistake, and quite frankly, no matter how much Mom had ask to have a child, Dad never wanted one. So she was a mistake too. "At least your parents never beat you." she said. "I'm sure any times you went to the hospital were for normal reasons. Being born. Sports injuries. Not being thrown against a wall, or pushed off the roof. I've been to the hospital twenty times, not counting me being born. Only one was for normal reasons. I had ear infections a lot, and so they put tubes in my ears. That was my one normal hospital trip." she said, hugging her knees close.
