Phoenix Industries

The year is 2019, and the country of Baiyu is currently under the leadership of The Dictator. Anyone who dares oppose, or is even accused of slightly opposing, is wiped from existence, or vaporized. No written records are kept, thus making everything able to be edited for the sole purpose the The Dictator will always be right.
Since The Dictator's rise to power, the neighboring country, Bing, and Baiyu have constantly been at war. The hanging of war prisoners is a greatly loved social pastime.
Phoenix Industries, a computer technology company is working on taking a silent stand against the oppressor, even though they are obviously out-numbered, with the entire population of Baiyu on The Dictator's side. Day by day, their numbers are slowly decreasing as the resistance group is slowly being vaporized one by one after being found out as, or at least accused of traitors.
While it seems as though they haven't been detected yet, PI needs more members. Who will take the stand and bring down The Dictator?

Jack yawned as he got out of bed, looking at his clock which now said 3:00 PM.

It was about time to get ready for tonight's job.

"Toni, wake up!"
"..."
"...Toni?"
"..."
"TONI!"
Toni screamed when a cymbal hit her head, waking her up from her nap. "What the fuck was that for?!"
"Get ready! We have a gig tonight, so prepare yourself," the drummer yelled, picking up the cymbal.
"I am getting ready!" Toni said. "I'm sleeping now so I can stay up later."
The drummer facepalmed, before leaving the room. He wasn't even gonna bother trying.

Jack sighed as he heard his noisy upstairs neighbors again. Man, he needed to get a better place.

Dexter sighed, walking rather awkwardly down the street. The standard beige citizens' uniform was rather uncomfortable and scratchy, plus the woman's version was a dress. How was she supposed to call upon Bee in a dress? She glanced at the address written on her small slip of paper, not having to brush her bangs away since her hair was pulled into the standard regulation bun. She didn't like that either. It felt like everyone was staring at her face. Glancing back down at the address again, she smiled slightly, changing her rather neutral appearance. Musicians always did make good foot soldiers, what with their non-conformist ways. Arriving at the door of said apartment, she knocked loudly, putting the standard salesperson smile on her face.

Also, if you haven't read 1984 by George Orwell, go do it nao. It'll give you better understanding of what this world is like.

Toni opened the door. "What?"

"You are...Brice comma Toni, correct?" Dexter asked, holding out her hand for Toni to shake. "I am Bee comma Alexis, from Phoenix Industries." Dexter enjoyed making up aliases, especially when she was in the "real" world. She found the citizens' uniforms far to embarrassing to be herself in.

Toni raised an eyebrow before shaking Dexter's hand awkwardly. "What do you want?"

"Phoenix Industries is interested in hiring you for your musical talent. You play the...keytar, correct?"

"Um, yeah," Toni said. Phoenix Industries...? Where have I heard that name...?

Dexter smiled, before taking a business card out of her wallet. "Thank you," she said politely, handing Toni the card. "There's a scheduled appointment time on the back, but if you need to reschedule for any reason, simply call the number on the front and we will reschedule your appointment. I promise, we will make this worth your time. At the meeting there will be specifics on the job itself and your pay, along with any other issues that may come up, or questions that you wish to be answered about the job."

Toni took the card and nodded. "Um, thanks," she said, not really sure what else to say.

After getting dressed and having something to eat, Jack left his apartment, whistling.

Dexter smiled again, her cheeks hurting from all the smiling she was doing. "Have a nice day," she replied warmly, mentally groaning at the girl's lack of social skills. Even she was better at talking than her. She turned away from Toni, dropping the smile once the girl could no longer see her face, swinging her umbrella aimlessly. She should be getting back, if only Bee could teleport.

Toni sighed and closed the door. "That was weird..."
"Who was that?" the drummer asked. He was busy slurping down a cup of instant ramen.
Toni shrugged. "Someone offering me a job," she said. "Dunno whether or I should go..."
"Go for it," the drummer said. "The chances of any one us getting jobs is pretty low, and we kinda need the money."
"True..." Toni sighed and checked the appointment time.

The appointment was scheduled for three days later, at 4:15PM. The address for the Phoenix Industries' headquarters was written on the paper, along with the number 8523.

"Looks like I'm going, then," Toni muttered, picking up her keytar.

Victoria was walking down the street from her apartment she owned by herself toward the grocery store to pick up her weekly rations. They weren't much, and she was starving, but they were better than nothing. In fact, they were so little that ever since she was fourteen, she had maintained a weight of 100 pounds, even. That took a miracle for someone of her height and age, but it wasn't a miracle so much anymore. Miracles were long gone now, as were dreams.

She pondered over this has the itchy dress chafed her almost nonexistant thighs as she walked down the cobblestone street. She had a dream: avenge her mother. It was just a matter of finding the Resistance, and the plan would all play out from there. The Dictator had to go, and everyone would be happy again, and she could finally let her long red hair loose from this horrid bun that was sloppy because she had no idea how to do it anyway. She never really wanted to anyway, since it was stupid. But she still made an effort so she didn't get arrested. Not that I would anyway. she thought as she fingered the pen in her pocket.

Dexter bumped into Victoria, her reddish-brown eyes quickly examining her possible attacker. Seeing the girl didn't seem to be armed, she apologized politely. "I am very sorry, comrade. I should have been watching where I was walking."

"It's alright. No big deal." Victoria said, shaking her head.

"Ah, very well then," Dexter nodded, swinging her umbrella slightly by her side. "I hope your day proceeds well." She nodded once more, stepping to the side and moving to walk past Victoria.

"I extend the same thing to you." Victoria said, and started walking. Why did that girl look familiar? She turned around. "Miss, do I know you from somewhere?" she asked.

"Perhaps," Dexter smiled. "My fiancee is the president of Phoenix Industries, perhaps you've seen me at one of his speeches?"

"Phoenix... I've heard of you. I need to speak with you. Alone." she said.

"Ah... If I remember correctly, my husband does have an appointment open today. You can come back to the company building with me, if you wish," Dexter smiled, but inside she was quite pissed off. While this girl did seem to have potential, hinting at the resistance in public was like suicide.
