The Haunted House on the Hill

Elizabeth smacked his hand and laughed a little. "I'm not a dog." she said.

"Well, then don't sit on the floor," Denny chuckled.

"There's no one else to sit." she laughed.

Denny winked seductively, patting his lap. "Nah, I'm just kidding."

Elizabeth laughed. "You're such a dork." she teased gently.

"But I'm your dork, right?" Denny grinned, sliding off the edge of the tub and onto the floor next to Elizabeth.

"One could say that." she said, leaning her head on his shoulder.

Denny could feel his face go a little pink as Liz was suddenly resting on his shoulder. He carefully wrapped an arm around her waist, swallowing back his blush.

It was Liz's turn to blush as he wrapped an arm on her waist. A silence filled the air, and she really didn't know what to say.

"Um...listen, there's something I should probably tell you, since we're pretty screwed..." Denny began a bit awkwardly, looking up at the ceiling.

Elizabeth looked up at him. "What is it?" she asked.

"If we...get out of here, how would you feel about going somewhere with me? Like...the movies, maybe...?" he asked a bit meekly, fidgeting a little.

Elizabeth smiled. "I'd like that."

Denny blinked, having been half expecting to be turned down. "Wait, really?" he asked in disbelief.

"Sure." Elizabeth said. "Why not?"

"...Oh," Denny stated blandly. She didn't realize he'd just asked her out on a date.

"What is it?" Elizabeth asked.

"N-Nothing...I can invite everyone else to come along, too, if you'd like..." Denny smiled, taking his hand off Liz's waist and leaving them at his sides.

"No, I want to go with you alone." Elizabeth said.

"Um...okay," Denny replied. Geez, why was Liz so confusing? Did she understand he'd asked her on a date or not?

"Is there something wrong?" Elizabeth asked. He sounded confused. He was asking her out, wasn't he? And she said yes, didn't she? Did he not want this? Ugh. Men. she thought. Their brain was replaced with a penis.

"It's nothing, I'm just being stupid," Denny laughed nervously, mentally kicking himself in the crotch. Why did he have to act like such an idiot in front of her?

"It doesn't sound like nothing." Elizabeth frowned.

"I'm just acting stupid, as usual," Denny tried to explain.

"You're not stupid." Elizabeth shook her head.
