The Haunted House on the Hill

"Where have you been the last couple of years?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Elizabeth shook her head.

"You're smart, I'm not. Even now, I'm just stumbling over words because I think you're...pretty," Denny mumbled the last word.

Elizabeth's face turned serious, almost shocked. She hadn't fully expected this. It wasn't... normal for her to get something like this from a boy. "Um.... thanks..." she squeaked, really not sure what else to say.

Denny rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, before realizing his "mistake." He quickly turned back towards Liz, stammering, "I-I mean, you're not just pretty! You are, but it's not like it's the only reason why I... Y-You're a nice person, and smart, and...and..."

And now.... Liz had no idea what to say. She really didn't. "Thanks...." she squeaked out again. God, why was she SQUEAKING so much?!

Denny slumped over with a sigh. "I...screwed up again, didn't I..."

Joseph sighed. She just wasn't listening to what he was saying.

"Joseph.... I have to tell you something." Angel said, her voice shaking a little.

Elizabeth shook her head. "No, you didn't, I'm just speechless." she said.

"Isn't that what I do best? Drive women to speechlessness?" Denny asked, winking at Liz as he recovered a bit from his awkwardness. "It's only natural to feel that way, silly Lizzy."

Elizabeth laughed. "You're silly." she said. "And... I guess I like you too." she added slowly.

Denny laughed, moving closer to Liz and wrapping his arm back around her waist. "Well, I would hope so. Don't want you going on a sympathy date with me."

"I wouldn't do that. I thought you would know that." she said, almost laughing. Elizabeth felt better now, a little more relaxed.

"What?" Joseph asked, a confused look on his face.

"I thought you would. Wouldn't have the heart to tell me to get lost," Denny chuckled.

"Um.... In the last time loop... someting happened.... between you and me...." Angel said, and took a deep breath, trying to figure out what to say next. "I guess I just want to say.... I love you, Joseph." she said, getting it off of her chest.

"I would never tell you to get lost." Elizabeth looked up at him, confused.

"Because you like me," Denny stated.

Joseph was silent, s a million thoughts raced through his head at that very moment, by what Angel had just said.

"Exactly." Elizabeth said.

Angel frowned at his silence, nervous as hell. What was he thinking? What was he going to say? She was terrified.

"..." Denny paused, his mouth open, as he forgot the point he was trying to make. "I thought you didn't like me. At least not like that. That's why I thought you'd turn me down."

"I wouldn't turn you do. I like you, Denny. I always have. You were just.... unreachable." Elizabeth sighed.

"I'm saying that I didn't know that, though," Denny laughed. "I'm not like you, I don't know anything!"

"Because I don't like to share my feelings for others very often." Elizabeth said, blushing a little.

"Well this'll be a learning experience for us both," Denny smiled, moving closer to Elizabeth and turning so they were face to face.

"I like learning." Elizabeth smiled.
