Joey yawned as he got up. Today was June 16th, both his birthday, and the launch of SBURB: R. He slowly got out of bed, rubbing his eyes. It had been getting harder to sleep with all the voices he had been hearing. He quickly got changed, and headed over to his computer. Time to check in on everyone.

Kathryn woke to the smell of bacon cooking in her apartment. That meant her brother was up. She sat up, not even bothering to change out of the big t-shirt she was wearing, and wandered into the kitchen. The greeting she gave her big brother was in the form of a hug from behind. He smiled and put the cheesy eggs mixed with what smelled like basil and garlic and bacon on a plate for the two of them.

He had a documentary about the sabertooth tiger going on the television already, and they sat down on the couch together and ate while Kathryn pulled out her laptop from the side table to check on her interior design and zombie apocalypse forums. Upon logging in and pesterChum starting up, she saw Joey was online. Oh yeah, it was his birthday. Did she get that present sent off in time? With a quick memory check, she realized she did, and could safely pester Joey without fear of guilt.

DH: Ok, I can't wait to check it out.
DH: It'll be here with SBURB:R soon.

Joey smiled, before he stared at the five red boxes next to his computer. He had been working these presents for his friends, each for their prospective birthdays. Now he just needed to time the arrival for each one, which shouldn't be too hard, he'd always been good with timing.

ZD: As you should.
ZD: Now then. I'm going to go grab my phone and put sweatpants on. I shall then go stalk the mailbox and keep Bro from getting it.

Kathryn closed the laptop and set it on the side table before looking to the side. Bro was gone. "Shit! Sneaky asshole!" She said, and grabbed her phone from the counter before running out the door barefoot. She had forgotten pants and honestly didn't care. She had to get ahold of that game.

She reached the lobby where the mailboxes were and saw her brother was standing there with a stupid grin on his face. Kathryn just smacked him. "Jerk."

"Kathryn, why aren't you wearing pants?" He asked, a smile on his face.

"I was in a bit of a rush." she snapped back. "Thank God it's a t-shirt I stole from you. It keeps everything covered because you're fat."

"Aw, that hurts sis. Too bad it isn't worth it because I'm getting the game before you."

"Lies and fallacies. I'll get it first. I'll make sure of it." Kathryn winked and looked at her phone, pulling up pesterChum.

ZD: STUPID BROTHER.
ZD: I'm standing in the lobby with no pants because of him.
ZD: Jerk.

DH: Heh heh.
DH: Your brother actually sounds pretty cool to me.

After he typed that, he casually looked at his computer clock, only for his eyes to widen in shock.

DH: Oh shit!
DH: I slept in over an hour!

Nell yawned as she woke up, her short strawberry blonde hair sticking up at strange angles. She made an attempt to mess it back into place, most likely only worsening it, but the action was more out of habit than necessity. Instead, she rolled out of bed, nearly stepping on a package. "Ughh...not again..." she muttered to herself, before remembering what it probably was. That SBURB:R or whatever that Joey kept bugging her to play. She'd guilt-tripped her mom into getting it for her, which wasn't too extremely hard. Minds as well tell him she got it. Later.

She opened up the packaging, finding the game she had expected safely nestled in a bunch of styrofoam peanuts. Brilliant. Picking up the game, she walked over to her computer desk, placing the game on her desk and shooting Joey a message through PesterChum.

ZD: Ha! Don't make me laugh.
ZD: Well, he is pretty cool.
ZD: But sometimes he gets so annoying I want to hit him.
ZD: So I do. (:

Kathryn looked up to see the mailman approaching with his sack of letters. Her brother smiled at her devilishly and held up the key to the mailbox. Shit! she thought, as the mailman took his time putting mail in each mailbox thing. It was awful because their box was number 22 and there was a while to wait. But they had agreed to wait until the box was shut and locked and the mailman had left before they went at it. It prevented an innocent person from being dragged into the fray.

The mailman finished his business and left, and that was when hell broke loose. Her brother was on the mailbox in a heartbeat, and Kathryn was on him not long after. She couldn't pry the key from his hand, but she was delaying him. But he'd have the key in and the door open any second now. So she played dirty and used her bare feet to shove the wasteband of his pajama pants to the ground with a sly smile. The key was left in the whole, and she turned it, opened the door, and grabbed the game with a grin.

"A foolish mistake, brother. Looks like I win this round." she smiled, and ran upstairs to the apartment. She put the game in her laptop and pulled up pesterChum.

ZD: I AM VICTORIOUS.

DH: Cool, Kath just got her copy now.
DH: I'm going to the mailbox, to see if my copy is here.
DH: Oh, and thanks Nell.

Joey got off the computer, and ran downstairs, stealthily sneaking by the kitchen, where his dad was cooking his birthday breakfast, to get to the front door. As he approached it he examined the shelves of soldier figurines that lined the walls, and all the antique guns, and old war weapons that his dad collected.

Smiling, he opened the door, to see a couple packages waiting for him. Grinning, he picked them all up, and snuck back upstairs, and got on his computer.

DH: Got mine~
DH: Nell got hers as well.
DH: I'm going to play as the client with her, and maybe you can hook up with her as well, as her server.
DH: From what I heard, you need to make a chain of clients and servers, to properly play.

DH: Got mine,
DH: Just download the server, and I'll download the client, and we can get started.

ZD: Up to a point?
ZD: Sheesh man, Game Developers are strange.
ZD: They are surprisingly thorough with their spoiler protection.
ZD: But still.

She pulled out the instructions as her brother entered the apartment. He didn't look happy, but he'd live. "Love you, bro."

"Love you too sis. Last time I ever make a deal like that with you."

"Smart boy." Kathryn read the manual for a few minutes and found nothing of real value. It was too confusing.

ZD: This.
ZD: Is.
ZD: Blasphemy.

Nell walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, grabbing a box of strawberry poptarts from the cupboard and walking upstairs. She wasn't quite sure where her mother was, but she supposed it didn't really matter. As long as she wasn't to pesky.

She sat back down at her computer, glancing over Joey's message. The server disc? She glanced at the two discs, picking up the server one, and sticking it into her computer.

IO: oh yeah did you get my
IO: present stupid enter key
IO: its the one thats shinyyyyy

DH: Downloading the client myself.
DH: I'll check it out right now.

Joey said, turning to the packages, as his computer loaded the client. He quickly found the package sent from Nell, and quickly opened it, wondering what she got him. Nothing could ruin this day, not even the pesky, but cute, GBunny.

IO: goood i know you'll like it

Inside the box was a poorly photoshopped picture of Joey, which Nell photoshopped in so she was standing on his shoulders. It matched the ones she'd given him in previous years, though they were always in different poses. Also inside the box, was a marshmallow gun, along with a paper with several rocks taped to it.

"Joey,

Here's a marshmallow gun. I even painted it! Those rocks are from my collection. They're pretty common, though, and they work in the marshmallow gun. You can use this to snipe at the neighbors' cat or something.

Nell"

Joey smiled after examining the contents, and reading the note. He put the stuff back in the box, before returning to the computer.

DH: Thanks Nell, I love it.
DH: Now I can fire much bigger projectiles, and I think I can use this with my strife modus, if I use one of my other guns with it as well.
DH: Although I doubt I'll ever have to use it, it might be useful for some amusing adventures.

Joey smile again, when he noticed that the client had finished loading.

DH: Hey, the load is done on my end.

IO: good i knew youd love it
IO: i guess im just psychic like that
IO: and yeah im good on this end so now i just connect to you right???

Nell leaned back in her chair, adjusting her long night gown. Maybe I should get dressed...later... She started fiddling around with the server, trying to figure out how to connect with Joey.

DH: Ok, let's get connected.

A minute later, Joey had been able to establish a connection with Nell. But nothing happened on his end, but for Nell, she could now see Joey, along with a whole bunch of options on what to do.

DH: Um, are you getting anything on your end, cause mine is only saying we are connected?

IO: whowhoahowahoahwoahowahwoah
IO: pardon my french but what the fuck is this game
IO: i can see you on my computer!!!!

Nell stared at her computer screen, not really sure what was going on anymore. Did installing the client involve putting cameras up in your house?

DH: Wait what?!
DH: How!?

Joey looked around frantically, but found no camera.

DH: I don't see any cameras...
DH: What else can you do?

IO: uhhhh lets see

Nell clicked on Joey's bed, rather shocked when she saw herself pick it up. She moved it over a couple feet, and put it back down, still kind of panicky. It was like she was playing real-life Sims or something.

IO: did your bed just move???

DH: What?!
DH: Holy shit your right!
DH: You can control my house like it's a Sims game!

It was at this moment his dad called for breakfast.

DH: Shit, breakfast.
DH: Ok, try and figure out what else you can do, and get in touch with Kath.
DH: I'll be back as soon as I can.

With that, he ran out of the room, and headed downstairs.
