It's about time to start finishing these accursed beasts after all, Lissa decided mentally. She took a deep breath, plunging forward into the cloud of gradually dispersing venom that was floating lazily around in the air. The Mandragoras had been nothing but a sheer annoyance. Lissa honestly didn't even know where she would go after the battle... but that wasn't important to the matter at hand. As it stood, she was standing near enough one of the Mandragoras to simply stab it again.

And stab it she did; deep within its body the pitchfork plunged with a sickening noise. Lissa withdrew her weapon, dissatisfied with the fact that the beast would probably end up overpowering her shortly. It's been a good run... Hopefully you guys can finish the fight, she mentally willed her companions. Despite her previous luck, she was doubtful that the beasts wouldn't begin to gang up on her, noticing her weakened state... but there was at least hope!

A scowl crossed Alice's face as she noticed that they were actually being overwhelmed by these stupid plants. She started strumming her banjo while softly chanting an incantation, even wincing herself at the horrible tune it produced. What she would do for a prettier instrument, like a violin...now was not the time to be day dreaming.

Glancing behind her, she noticed Lissa's rather horrible predicament. While she was beginning to feel dizzy from the poison coursing throughout her body, Lissa seemed about ready to pass out. That wouldn't be good, who would fight with her against Jeff?!

Seeing her seemingly fate-guided protectors in danger, Naina quickly took out another pre-prepared medicine from her pack. Instead of using her magic as before, Naina decided instead to apply it manually, for she knew that she would be unable to do much more magic. However, battle was not the time to rub such a salve into wounded skin, so Naina spread it throughout the air towards the girl with the stringed instrument, hoping it would help in some way.

Lissa saw Alice glance over at her, and tried to give her a reassuring smile that probably looked a lot more like a pained, forced grimace in her present state. She had not realized just how much of a toll this battle was taking on her body. She noticed that her allies were looking similarly exhausted, and Jet especially seemed absolutely spent.

"There wouldn't, by any chance, be another bit of medicine for poor Jet over there, would there?" Lissa called to her new-found ally. The young girl was trying her very best to heal the three of them, but she was only one person... it would certainly be rocky sailing from here on out. The trio focused their attacks on the single Mandragora, hoping to finish it off...

Naina nodded at the question the girl with the pitchfork presented her. Then, she took out the plants she would need for a magical healing. Repeating her mixing magic once more, she once again used it on the boy with the armor, where it would immediately begin working on his wounds. "It's good there's only one left," Naina whispered to herself as she felt her power drop, moving to where she would be closer to her allies, "I don't think I could do that anymore for now..."

"It's... running away." Lissa thought out loud, completely baffled that the Mandragora that had attempted - and nearly succeeded - to destroy the companions was now turning a blind eye on all of it and its own companion's work, and simply running from the fight. Tch... mindless monsters. Lissa thought to herself. Hopefully Jet and Alice make quick work of the thing. She walked away from the battle itself, looking over and seeing a bag left unchecked. It looked similar to what she had searched through before. Maybe it's worth checking out...?

Finally, everything was coming to an end. While they were no doubt dangerous, these plants still interested Naina. Without as much danger as before, Naina scoured her knowledge of plants for what these ones could possibly be. Remembering a passage from one of the botany books she had read long ago, Naina suddenly became giddy, her eyes going wide with excitement. "They're Mandragoras!" Naina exclaimed, happy since she had never seen them before, "I've never seen them before!"

Realizing then that her newfound allies still had work to do, Naina quickly quieted herself, though she felt like she would explode from laughing at any time. Laughing for nothing but the fact that she had now seen a plant she had never before expected to see. She shuffled forward to be closer to the others, almost unable to hold her excitement.

((We can beat these guys with basic attacks now, guys.))

Alice hissed, swinging her banjo at the plant (apparently now called a Mandragora?). It was a miracle that the instrument hadn't broken yet, and it was quite obvious that it was made from something other than wood.

Lissa then turned her attention back to the bag, walking towards the small, secluded spot where it lay. She began rummaging through it, hoping to find something of worth...

At last, it was over. The last Mandragora had fallen thanks to the help she received from these strangers. Unable to hold it in any longer, Naina gave a small yelp of excitement, laughing giddily as she put her hands to her face. "Mandragoras!" she exclaimed, not caring whether or not the others would understand, "Can you believe that we found some mandragoras? I never thought I'd see any in my life!" Looking at her allies, she saw that they were quite beaten up by the plants. Naina herself felt quite tired after the ordeal. Looking around, she could see many edible plants nearby, and went about picking up the ones that would be the most nourishing.

"You guys look hungry," Naina explained as she milled about the forest floor, picking up mushrooms and herbs, while pulling out any edible roots she found, besides, it's the least I could do, considering you saved my life! I would never have been able to get through that on my own." Turning to the group, she curtsied in thanks, then went over to the mandragoras to see if anything left that would be of use. She would have to unfortunately leave the roots; there was no way she could bring all of that along. The leaves and a few venom sacks, however, could prove to be useful as well, so she took a few of each.

Taking out a cloth from her bag, she cleaned off what food she found, and invited the others over. Sure, she did not pick as much as she would have like, but a few handfuls of food would no doubt be helpful. "It's not much," Naina admitted with a somewhat downed expression, "but it's edible!."

Placing her snaring staff in a clasp upon her back, Lissa smirked a weary smirk and walked over to the group, half-laughing at the antics of their young charge. "Kind of an odd place for a picnic, wouldn't you say?" In all truth, she was happy to be getting some kind of food in her stomach... between her dream-spar with Alice and Jet, and now a battle in real life, it was sort of a hectic day. She hadn't even had time to surmise how she had gotten to the forest.

"Well uhh... 'young miss'," Here, Lissa did air quotes, "First off, what's your name? And what are you doing so far out into a deep forest, with no sense of protection? There are - as we have all just seen - monsters afoot." She gladly took the food from the young girl, not wasting any time with precautions. She doubted that a little girl would cook up some poison to repay those who had just saved her life.

"Actually, better question." She stopped, about to take a bite, but instead decided to pose a question. Gesturing to Alice and Jet for an answer, she asked, "What are we doing here?" Chuckling, Lissa returned to her food. It looked sort of edible, and it was certainly better than nothing. Gladly, Lissa took a bite.

"Honestly, I'm as confused about this as you are." Jet said, sighing as he ate. "I'm not familiar with this area at all, hence why I said we should get going earlier, it's never wise to stay in an unfamilliar place for too long."

Naina gave a wandering glance around the group, taking a bite into the stem of one of the mushrooms she picked. "My name's Naina!" she said with a smile after swallowing the bit of mushroom. "I'm just collecting some samples; I'm training to be an herbalist and all. I'm from a little town called Zeleni, which is... uh..." Naina paused, looking around the forest. Between going farther out from the town than normal and the skirmish with the mandragoras, she realized that she was hopelessly lost. None of the surroundings looked familiar from the other times she had gone out sample-collecting. "Well... it's not too far. I don't think. It shouldn't be, anyway!"

Naina then gave an embarrassed smile to her newfound allies, her cheecks blushing slightly. "What're your names?" She asked, wishing to change the subject as quickly as possible. Besides, she could not go around calling them "girl with the pitchfork," "boy with the armor" and "girl with the instrument" everywhere they went. She then laughed. A nervous, embarrassed laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. When they started out again, the group would have to pick a random direction, which could lead them to the village, or perhaps farther away.

Alice frowned at Naina's food, not really wanting to take food from the strange girl in fear of poison. Instead, she took a pouch from her side, snacking a bit aimlessly on the nuts and dried fruit inside. "I'm Alice," she stated, momentarily wondering if it was safe to give this girl her name? She supposed it didn't matter; if she refused to say her name, then Lissa or Jet would simply say it for her.
