Nightfall, Children of the Elements

"Aye aye!" Manda saulted, heading for the skyscrapper.

Suzume chuckled, and also went heading to the skyscrapper. Once inside, she sat down at a table with the paper, and went to work.

Manda got herself a piece of bread and a juicebox along with some food for Suzume before sitting down at the table across from the other girl.

"And, done," Suzume said, holding up a oragami duck a few minutes later.

Manda was sucking on her straw, looking at the duck with awe.

"Here," Suzume said, holding the duck for Manda to take.

Kari continued to wander around the tower absentmindedly, muttering the spell, until he walked straight into a wall. He snapped back into reality and the wind shield disappeared. "...Ow. Note to self, don't use the 'daijoubu' spell unless I'm actually in trouble..."

Manda took the duck, holding it carefully in her hands. "Awesome..."

"I'm glad you like it," Suzume said with a slight chuckle.

"Thank you very much, Sparrow ma'am!" Manda chirped.

"You're welcome," Suzume said to Manda, then leaned back in her seat. "I remembered how much fun I had making those..."

"Did you used to make them a lot when you were little?" Manda asked.

Suzume nodded, and looked at the duck. "My mom and dad taught me..."

"They must've been really talented..." Manda commented.

"My mom was a doctor, my dad...Crap...what did he do again...?" Suzume asked herself, thinking back.

Manda waited patiently

"...He helped my mom...." Suzume recalled. "He was also a doctor..."

"Really? that's awesome." Manda replied. She had the upmost respect for healers.

"They...were also rather overprotective of me...especially around boys." Suzume continued.

After dragging Aculeus all the way down the stairs, Sam beamed at him, looking quickly between him and Sparrow. She giggled quietly to herself and ran up the stairs, taking a lap around the second floor and stopping next to the stairs, aiming to eavesdrop on Aculeus, though it was probably unecessary.

"Most parents are. At least that's what I hear..." Manda replied.

Suzume frowned when she heard that. "You didn't know your parents?"

Manda shrugged. "Well, I don't really remember them that well, my Mom died when I was little, and my Dad was never around."

Sam had dragged Aculeus around for a fair amount of time before they finally found Sparrow sitting with Manda. There she is. Is she still mad at me? Probably. He decided he should say something. "You know," he said as he began walking to where they were sitting, "My father and mother taught me how to heal people." He plopped down into a seat on Sparrow's side of the table. "I think most everyone here is an orphan. . ."

Suzume shrugged at Aculeus. "Everyone may be, but we all have differences." She seemed to say in a different tone of voice. And strangely, she didn't seem to be pissed off.

"My parent's taught me a few things about first aid, and medical treatments." She then looked at Manda. "...I'm sorry to hear that..."
