Mage: The Academy

"The object that you use to turn into your Mage form," Felix said, tapping the ground with his bat.

Ester ignored Cat's complaint and continued dancing around with it.

"Uhm..." Jaden tilted her head and lifted her wrist with the charm on it. "You mean this?"

"Maybe," Felix said, studying the charm. "It's hard to tell what someone else's Mage item is unless you see them transform."

"You mean, like my gloves?" John asked, raising his hands. "They're what I use."

Quincy continued to walk around town, trying to memorize the layout, until he finally stumbled across a cafe. "Ah...hello?" he said as he stepped inside, pulling the letter from his pocket.

Felix walked over by John and studied his gloves. "Yeah, that's probably it." A charm and some gloves...? The first-years must be pretty weak...

A little purple tanuki-thing with bat wings flew over to Evelyn's table, holding a plate with a blueberry crepe on it, as well as a strange, bubbling, purple drink. It appeared to be struggling under the food's weight, but managed to get it to the table anyway.

"Oh, hi! Welcome to En Noir Et Blanc!" the waitress said to Quincy. "How may I help you?"

"I was told that there was food here for first years the first couple days," Quincy frowned, holding up his letter for the waitress to see.

"Ah, yes! Please follow me," the waitress said before leading Quincy to a table.

Meanwhile, the tanuki appeared to be yelling at Evelyn, as it only got a pat on it's head for it's hard work. Evelyn simply stared at the tanuki as it raged, angering it even more.

"Eh?" Jaden questioned them "His gloves are special?"

"Thank you," Quincy nodded, following the waitress, before sitting down at the table.

"It's the same reason why your charm is special," Felix said, shrugging.

The waitress handed Quincy a menu, which listed many different kinds of tea, coffee, and pastries. At the very bottom were the chef specials.

The tanuki tried to attack Evelyn, only to be knocked down by Yas. The tanuki quickly shook it off and attempted to swipe at the girl, but it was blown back by Yas every time. The waitress saw this and frowned. "Please excuse me," she said, before running off into the kitchen. "DRASIL! CONTROL YOUR FAMILIAR!"

Jaden looked at her charm. "...It's special?" she asked.

Quincy looked at the menu, a small frown on his face as he quickly compared his options. "I'll have a double shot expresso and whatever looks good," he stated.

OOC: Quincy's now a caffeine addict. -nodnod-

A young boy clad in purple came out of the kitchen, walked up to the tanuki thing, and grabbed it by the collar. He turned to Evelyn and bowed. "Excuse me," he said, before dragging the tanuki back into the kitchen.
The waitress came back later with Quincy's expresso and a slice of coffee cake. "Here you go."

"Try transforming without it," Felix simply said.

Jaden continued to blink at the boy... "I've been doing that all along!" Of course, that wasn't true...but she didn't know any better.

"Thanks," Quincy grinned, ripping apart his coffee cake and dipping it in his expresso as he ate it. Yum, caffeine.

Felix sighed. "How about you take it off, then transform?"

"You're welcome," the waitress said, before going back to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Evelyn was stirring a bright purple drink with her straw, filling the air with the smell of mint and lemon tea.

Quincy frowned, quickly finishing his coffee cake, and sipping his expresso while playing with his phone. He scowled, barely able to see the screen with the brightness turned on 0%. But if he raised it up, he'd transform, and that'd be embarrassing.

"Kay! Kuruu! Hold my charm!"

"Why do I ha--" Just as he continued to talk, jaden had shoved her charm into his mouth.

"See?" Jaden grinned, thinking she was in her other form...

"...Nothing changed," Felix said.

"...Um." John said to Jaden. "You didn't change."

"Really?" Jaden asked before frowning. "...Kay!" She focused, trying to change..to no avail. "Now! See!?"

John just shook his head.

"Told'ya so," Felix said, shrugging. "It's the source of your powers. Without it, you can't transform."

John nodded to Felix. "Thank you for explaining."
